Surely Luke has to be the shining light in a collection of dull, dud, ancient or useless signings made by the "manager".
He was a breath of fresh air on Saturday and scored a great goal last night. Stay fit and he should be enough along with Nicholson and others to keep us safe this season.
B***** out.

I'm glad someone mentioned last night's game, as I actually went. No thread on this Forum - quelle surprise!
Thomas looked strong and has 2 strong feet. He will score a few goals by coming inside and hitting with his left. Ditto, but opposite side for Nicholson.
2 positives last night. Ward looks fine as a back-up goalie and Pablo could fill in at right back. The centre-back Lovelock has potential as well. 2nd year scholar, but was prepared to bring ball out.
Walker, Mehew and Hargreaves look some distance from first team.

But I guess tbf to Walker, Hargreaves and Mehew had one of them been alongside more experienced midfielders they may have looked better. Playing all three together with the lack of games they get nowadays probably makes it harder for them. The Chelsea team from the half hour mark got into their stride and were well used to playing together. Ours weren’t. UTG!

I accept the point about playing with experienced players, but if you are offered a chance, grab it, don't sell yourself short.

Luke being the lad that set up 2 goals Saturday?
Then I agree he looks a decent player.

I said he was special after the first game he played. Then he went off the radar. He has the ability to beat a player, create space, run into it, spread defences and provide delicious through balls. Got a goal or two in him too. It's essential that him and Nicholson stay fit if we're to climb the table. I agree about some of the academy youngsters not being up to scratch.

What was really interesting to watch last night was that each time Thomas or Nicholson ventured inside, they would look for a diagonal to the other. Nicholson is a breath of fresh air. Plays with a smile on his face and always encouraging others. I was 10 yards away from Joey. He might start to worry that I am stalking him. Again very relaxed, speaking to every player calmly and positively. From last 2 games, I would argue that players regularly come across and listen to him. What Chelsea showed us was the ability to straighten up moves through midfield and press the accelerator when they wanted to, when attacking through the centre of the pitch. We never had the drive from midfield. Different class, as expected.

I wasn't there last night but I've noticed this in other games. Hardly suggests he's lost the dressing room. Whatever his other faults he might not be the complete failure as a coach /manager some suggest. Glad you brought this up.

Some of the advice was very technical in terms of positioning and lots of explanation.
Hopefully, having Bond off the pitch and Whelan on it will help. Both are vastly experienced, whatever you think of them.
Nicholson this evening paid tribute to the input of experienced players and I believe Whelan is key.
Ultimately, it's all about wins and then people create their own narrative to suit. I am just giving you my own impressions on the behaviour dynamics and who is influential. I don't believe that the players think that he is irrational, or they wouldn't be engaging him so frequently?
Press day tomorrow 😂😂
