Hey guys and girls, we the exception of a few occasions, including myself, we have kept the personal insults off this forum. Let's not drag ourselves down to the standards of those currently leading our club. Any way nobody who drives a s***ty Mercedes has really made it. I do but i am a failure š

Much prefer a clapped out Honda civic, at least its British made, unlike the Euro crap that comes out of Germany

Following the retirements of our Chairman, Jim Chappell, and our Vice-Chairman and Match-day Organiser, Phil Draper, changes have had to be made to our Committeeās structure. Our Treasurer, Sue Williams, who also has experience at the upper levels of the Supporters Club going back many years, has indicated that she too will be stepping down at the end of the year. Bristol Rovers Supporters Club are delighted to announce that David Thomas has been appointed as our chairman. David joined our committee in 2014, serving as our Secretary for the last four years and has an intimate knowledge of how the Supporters Club runs. In that time he has been responsible for our website and social media content as well as being our link person for our successful sponsorship of the Gas Girls. He has built up a wealth of contacts both inside and outside of our football club. David will be assisted by Helen Wigmore, who steps up to become Vice-Chair. Helen has been responsible for our Share Scheme administration and was a prolific seller of 50/50 tickets in the West Stand and the Boxes. Keith Brookman becomes our new Secretary filling the void left by Davidās promotion. Keith has a wealth of experience at this football club and through his media work and we will no doubt rely on his wise counsel in the future. David says, āI am very proud and honoured to be asked by the Committee to succeed Jim and I promise to do everything in my power to make my tenure a successful one. Jim is a person I hold in the highest regard and I thoroughly enjoyed serving under him. Following him will be no easy task! āIt is no secret that relations between the Football Club and the Supporters Club have soured to an unacceptable level and I will work tirelessly to put that right. I have already been in contact with senior figures at the Football Club and the early signs are promising. āBristol Rovers Supporters Club is and always has been an independent organisation and under my leadership it will remain so. I truly believe that Bristol Rovers Supporters Club exists to serve every supporter of Bristol Rovers and I welcome dialogue from all supporters. If you have an idea or believe that you have something to offer the Supporters Club then please get in touch. We have to modernise I know that. Attracting the younger fan to our membership is something else I would like to address too, we know that some see us as stuffy. Letās change that! āAppointing new fans directors is a priority, they are a bridge between the board and the fanbase and we have been without a presence in the boardroom for too long. Two supporters have put themselves forward for these roles and their names were passed to the Football Club yesterday. The Share Scheme Agreement provides for two directors and I sincerely hope that is what will be allowed. āCompleting our Committee is another priority. We had vacancies before Jim, Phil and Sueās departures and we have identified some of the people we would like to join us. As I mentioned previously if you would like to join us too please get in touch. You will not be turned awayā. Acknowledging and welcoming a rare positive, he sounds like a vast improvement, a breath of fresh air, and a voice of reason with signs of a focus on what matters.

Weird isn't it, who is so insecure that they have to attempt to impress a group of total strangers on a backwater forum? I do find it difficult to understand if honest but each to each to their own. I have had my successes as a sales director but also some epic failures though iād not be talking of them on a football forum but that is me. In the 90ās and when the trappings of success were having a phone in my car and a nicer car, i did like to show it off but in real life. I had no idea that the mobile phone would be the worst thing that happened to sales as it led to a whole new level of management, whose job it was to call you, to know where you were. That then led to trackers being placed in the cars and Iām very happy i packed it all in before it came to that.

David and Angela Thomas are absolutely lovely people.. i feel very sorry for David as he and his wife worked, tirelessly, on the petition to Downing Street and there are several photos of him, along with Angela and Nick Higgs when presenting the petition, his reward was a five year season ticket for the UWE and we know how that turned out

Iām pretty it sold for 199K but am guessing there were payments to be made and also monies have been given to gas girls and the trust 199 was the property number KP. It would be an amazing coincidence. Perhaps the SC hasn't received the full amount of the stolen money back yet Ann? It is possible that they just have a charge on the thief's home and have not enforced a sale. Yes, i was aware of that and how it seems too much to be synchronicity. That is the figure i was told and when actually in the shop, when they were taking everything out of it

I tend to avoid this thread because most posters have a knowledge far greater than me and an involvement other than just being a member like me. So itās best I read rather than comment. From afar and knowing very little of the politics except the headlines over the past year I thought the new statement about the new Chairman was a decent statement to make.
But, it sounded as if it was aware that bridges need to be built and that they will try to do that. Reaching out to the club and to the supporters who they represent. Seem very aware of what they need to do in the short term and set out some of the actions.
But to the general supporters there seemed to be an acceptance that the SC is where it is and they need to move forward now and make things better. As ever time will tell and as in many areas, actions will speak louder than words. But it seemed a positive start. UTG!

A good post and I agree the new Chairman is approaching his new role in a dignified manner. I hope the board embraces his efforts because there is a need for a Supporters Club, either the one we have or one which rises from the ashes of the mess Jim, Ken & co left behind.

If the SC have made positive overtures to the club in the last few days it needs to be responded to positively. UTG!

I would struggle not to tell Starnes and Widdrington to F off out of my club and be told to do one in a letter from Chris MBE

Wish him the best of luck. The SC could do worse than have a chat to the likes of the GasCast crew, Her Game Too, some of the social media Rovers sites and some of the younger generation. See why they are not engaged with the SC, find out why and what they think is missing, and try and entice them and perhaps do a bit of joint promotion. See if its possible to get everyone on a smilar page and get the show back on the road all round.

(and then re evaluate if you think they are Talkers or Doers)

There used to be a regular gathering of all the various support groups face to face so that each group could understand their objectives. Maybe as good a time as any to resurrect the idea.

If i was SC chairman, I would be going on the podcast to talk about the team and the Supporters Club

I think you'll find the factory workers in Stuttgart disprove this. And on an industrial scale Stuttgart and Weissach are Porsche territoryĀ I checked after reading this. Wiki says Merc HQ is in Stuttgart I thought that would be right up itb's drive!

It would be an amazing coincidence. Perhaps the SC hasn't received the full amount of the stolen money back yet Ann? It is possible that they just have a charge on the thief's home and have not enforced a sale. One of the AGM reports from JC (2017 I think) said that they had had most of the money back and were expecting to get the rest. I tried looking back re 199 but ended up more than a little confused. There's a note on the SC website from JC dated 2018 saying they were going to sell the property - having I think originally said in 2015 that that was the plan at some point. Looking at the accounts, the only large increase in 'cash at bank' was (I think) the year after money had been stolen. The majority of the missing money seemed to have been paid back, with a small amount (circa Ā£32k) still owing. That seemed to tie in with JC's notes to the AGM. I could see no other increase in funds in any year apart from that. I can't remember when 199 was actually sold. Maybe the date is wrong on JC's note. That's the only explanation I can think of and possibly explains how they had so much money in the bank for someone to help themselves to. I did look up 199 on the Land Registry site, but it doesn't seem to be there. Maybe commercial properties are filed somewhere else? So who knows how much it sold for. The only figure I do seem to remember them quoting is Ā£100k - to be kept aside from the proceeds of the sale and ringfenced to fit out the supporters bar area at UWE. Presumably it was decided there was no point continuing to ringfence it and some has since been used for other purposes.
