Snowflake, what does it mean? To get upset about something not worth getting upset about, basically. What, like if someone got upset about being banned from an inconsequential football forum, where you're chatting with only about 20 other people, and you don't even know them, and the only thing you have in common is you support the same team, and you just end up arguing half the time?

A Rovers and Spurs fan wrote a Twitter thread about Rovers, to receive Joseph Anthony B*****'s unpleasant response. When will it all end!! Point 1 Well, JB admitted himself that we were fortunate to sign Elliot Anderson. Some team like Luton pulled out of signing Elliot on loan at the eleventh hour, and we'd missed out on the strikers we were after in the January window. Newcastle were desperate that Elliot went somewhere on loan to get game time, and there was Bristol Rovers, with 5 minutes to go, needing to make some sort of signing. Although Rovers ended up achieving automatic promotion, we were only inside the play-off positions by 4 points. I believe that Elliot Anderson (that fortunate signing) gained us more than 4 points during his time with us.

And something else a bit strange... JB saying: "He's a fantasist who was Tommy Widds spy in our camp." JH saying: ""Joey came in and for the first week or two, Tommy was in the training ground every day..." ... ""It was after we lost to Wigan 2-1 in midweek, and then we came in on the Thursday." ... ""I was in every day at that point as well and, to be fair, I don’t remember speaking to Joey for the first few weeks." - JB was appointed Monday 22/02/2021. - Rovers 1 Wigan 2 next day on Tuesday 23/02/2021. Which means... a) The timeline doesn't match up, as the Wigan game was the day after JB's appointment, so he couldn't have been here for a few weeks - unless JH has got the wrong game. b) Either way, JH says the incident happened the Thursday after a mid-week game, and the first day after TW wasn't around, so he would have been 'spy in the camp' for 1 whole day.

When will all this end? Will there be more to come out in public? Will others spill beans, or prefer a quiet life and just move on?
- Clint Hill left in a hurry. - Kevin Bond mysteriously left, then just as mysteriously re-appeared as soon as JB left the building. - Westbrooke sent to train away from the first team? There were others I think. - Players called out in public: Thomas (twice); Collins; Belshaw; Clarke; Rodman (any others?) - makes you wonder what else went on behind closed doors.

Not saying we deserved to win (far from it), but 2 good strikes, beat the goalkeeper, only to hit a defender on the line.
When your lucks out, it's well and truly out.

Well the players can't complain they haven't been given a chance.
McCormick, Brown and Connolly started this game (and all off at half-time).
Wonder if Rossiter will get minutes, before the season draws to a close.

I read the whole Bristol Post article. The Fan Banter link gave me a 404, which is apparently not a 1990s synth or drum machine, but a wookie link. Rovers never fail to baffle me. I think it's because the site automatically puts asterisks in B*****! Try copying the url, then changing the B***** bit for the 'arton' letters.

Sadly the best team (on the day, in my opinion) lost.
Feared we'd be thumped, and would watch 90 minutes of desperate defending. Pleasantly surprised to see us create more chances, and better chances, than Bolton - shame we couldn't finish any.
Still can't understand how their 'keeper kept out Martin's header. Thought is was past him and had gone in. When it was clear it hadn't I was scratching my head wondering whether it had hit the post.
Collin's goal I thought at the time both he and Dadi Bodvarsson were well offside. Unfortunately it's impossible to tell from the camera angle on the highlights.

Admitted i didn't bother (again) to watch the second half but your view of the game was diametrically the opposite to mine. In all my sixty years of following the GAS this current bunch are amongst the most lackluster and lacking in character that i have ever watched. Brexiters got their country back. B***** out brigade got their club back.
Be careful what you wish for. There's not a day goes by without me being thankful we no longer employ our previous manager. So glad I got what I wished for.

Happy to chip in.
Wouldn't want to take on an Admin role though. Going through a decluttering phase, and cutting back on my commitments.
Thanks for your sterling work, sir!

Should have taken it on The Repair Shop (if it was being aired when they first got it repaired) and had it refurbished for free! Anyone know where exactly it was at the Tote End? This article states: "... it was hung up above the Tote End at Eastville Stadium, Rovers' home ground from 1897 to 1986, alongside other clocks that toted up the odds in the greyhound races that the stadium also hosted until its demolition in 1997." But I've looked at old photos I have and can't see it showing on any of the Tote End boards. I think there were 2 free-standing versions (one white, one black), before the roof was put up and the board displayed on the facia (before finally being covered by The Hofmeister advert). Wondering whether it was inside so people under the roof could see it. Or around the outside of the bar somewhere? Plus 'alongside other clocks'? They weren't really clocks, surely?? Maybe best termed 'dials'? I want to say 'totalisers', but don't think they really could be described that way. Plus 'toted up the odds'? Has that just been made up because it's the 'Tote End'? Should that be 'totted up'? Tote is the company name innit? Would have been nice to explain how the clock was discovered. If it was up at Eastville until 1997, where was it living until it was repaired and installed at The Mem approximately 20 years later? Tote, the gambling company, wasn’t founded until 1928. Thanks. Would be interesting to know when exactly it was first referred to as 'The Tote End'. Just had a look in the dictionary and see 'Tote' = 'to add up'. I had no idea. Only ever heard 'Tot' ot 'Tot up' before. So 'Tote' and 'Tot are interchangeable; likewise 'Toted' and 'Totted' are interchangeable. And not being a betting person, and having no interest in horse racing, I only new 3. out of the following definitions... totalizator or totalisator; totalizer or totaliser 1. (Horse Racing) a system of betting on horse races in which the aggregate stake, less an administration charge and tax, is paid out to winners in proportion to their stake 2. (Horse Racing) the machine that records bets in this system and works out odds, pays out winnings, etc 3. (Mathematics) an apparatus for registering totals, as of a particular function or measurement

Well it was first brought back in 2002. I still have my certificate and somewhere, probably, the programme feature about it. Can't remember the story behind how it was found though - memory says it was in someone's attic. Thank you!

David Goldblatt (shares his affections between Tottenham Hotspur and Bristol Rovers) features quite a lot. Interviewed in the documentary as an author and historian.
I wonder whether David has continued following Rovers? Whether he may have stopped under the previous management team?

[ previously mentioned in the 'Rise & Rise of the Gas Girls' thread ] Went to see the film at Vue, Longwell Green last night. Very good. Enjoyed it and would recommend it to others (football fans in general, female sports fans and players). Seemed to be a lot of people there who I imagine are associated with women's football teams. Looks like the cinema run has been extended... I didn't mention this at the time. Now is a good opportunity. Looked back at my messages and on 22/11/2023 I received one to say that Rovers had asked if they can have Joe Taylor on loan. I don't know the exact date of Rovers enquiry, and was told 5 other teams had expressed at interest.
He scored 11 in 25 appearances, in the first half of the season, on loan at struggling League 2 Colchester. He switched to Lincoln on loan, in the January window, and currently has 8 in 12 games (didn't score in the first 5), scoring a hat-trick against us.
