I see Buckingham have filed for administration. Seems the complex builds at Liverpool and Fulham have set them back. I'm sure that was the company that laid our pitches, in which case we'll have to find another company to relay them. I think it's once a year isn't? Think they were more into stadium builds than pitches and seem to remember they were in line for either the Mem rebuild or UWE. May have built MKDons ground a while back?

Would love to know the answer!
As in any market, you are only worth what someone will pay.
Quite amazing that such a successful striker wasn’t in demand from any number of clubs for such a low fee.
Seem to recall DC saying he knew why but don’t remember him saying why.

What did DC say about Snake before he went for 300k. Am sure he tried to big up his fee. Am sure if JB said he's worth 1 million you would complain more. Can't remember the figure mentioned, but I imagine it was truer to the snake's actual value rather than bigging him up. Let's face it, he was worth far more than £300K. Perhaps DC had an inkling the transfer trigger clause would be leaked. If he was worth far more than £300k, why did no one else come in for him at that price? Why did no one come in for him when he was available for free the previous summer?

Since their conception I don't know know about you,but I've found them completely unpredictable. Goodness knows which club will win tomorrow, but it'll be good to see either of them back in the top flight. I have never had anything but disdain for Coventry after the way they and the 82 cheated their way to safety. So glad Luton won and that Locks is fine 1977 and still not forgotten by Sunderland supporters. Jimmy Hill was never forgiven by them either.

"underperformance" you do realise this is a Rovers forum, 17th in L1 is probably an average finish for the past decade, when 12th in L1 was probably the highest and Conference the lowest over that period. Finishing around 12th again next season will be progress. Forget about the average position based on all the divisions we've been in, let's look at where we are and compare our final placings in League 1, from when we first come back up from the 4th Tier. (and this goes further back than just the past decade, and is quite neatly 10 years) ... 2007/08 = 16. 2008/09 = 11. 2009/10 = 11. 2010/11 = 22 (relegated). 2016/17 = 10. 2017/18 = 13. 2018/19 = 15. 2019/20 = 14. 2020/21 = 24 (relegated). 2022/23 = 17. So apart from our relegation years, this year is the worst place we've finished. Whilst agreeing on the sentiments about consolidation after promotion, we have the manager to blame for any hype. It was JB who was saying after a handful of games that we'd get to the top flight before City, and in January was talking about a promotion push and the teams in the play-offs would be looking over their shoulders, before we ended up having a spectacular fall. Did he say that we would get to the top flight before @ity? Not how I remember it but be interested in the actual quote.

Recall a Scottish full back-Wilson- we loaned from somewhere. His debut for us was at Vale and his first touch was to score an OG. Further back we loaned Stoke manager Tony Waddington's son Steve. He came on as sub at the Mem and his first involvement was to give a pen away. Triva but not much else happening!!!! Sure about that Colyton ? No recollection of Steve Waddington but then my memory isn’t what it used to be! Did have Tony Pulis’s son who was pretty forgettable.

Chris Lines and Tom Broadbent also appear to have moved into the world of finance. Best of luck to all of them. I remember seeing Bobby Zamora and Nathan Ellington come on as subs at Wycombe, and thinking that I had seen the future of Rovers that day. Mind you I thought the same when we had a midfield of Hogg, Bryant and Plummer. I was very excited to see an entirely home grown midfield.

JB won't be offering Harry Anderson a new contract because of the players injuries this season. However,Harry will be invited to join in preseason and earn himself a deal. Get fit and your in mate! Someone else will take him before then.

None of you will be surprised to know that I’m not surprised at this! 😉 A very good player for many clubs over a long period of time. Having watched his AFCB career over two spells and his part in getting them to the PL I know that he’s very focussed on scoring goals. Fans moan at him for running like a chicken, being lazy and other faults but no one could complain about his ability to score goals when others couldn’t. And in 1 on 1s only Paul Randell was better than Brett P imo. Physically he was always going to struggle when we got him because his fitness wasn’t there but at Step 9 level he will out-think his opponents and ensure he’s in the right place at the right time to score. And for BRFC I’d even say last season, no Brett P, no promotion. That cushioned header at Bradford City rescued a last minute point which, as we all know, was vital come that last match. No other player we had could have scored that goal. That goal was one of the best goals, imo, of last season and highly memorable. Good luck to him, I think history will be kinder than some fans at some clubs. UTG! Funny how some people think that goal scorers should be fitter, better defenders, more involved in games etc when really all that matters is that they score goals which BP has always done. I recently watched a Youtube video of the highlights of the 1967 Man City v Spurs game and the commentator said that jimmy Greeves had not touched the ball yet, within 5 seconds he scored and people were moaning about his contribution to games back then...btw its worth watching that short video to see the state of the pitch (ice and snow) also Man City v West Ham 1970 (mud, thick mud !) Jimmy Greeves at it again...got to say I love watching 60s/70s matches and 70s heavyweight boxing. I remember that Jamie Cureton came in for criticism from some for not running around ‘enough’. And this was when he was the division’s top scorer!

Biggest crowds I have seen at Rovers home games were against Stoke and Man U.
The crowd v Stoke in the League Cup in 1971 was c33.500 iirc.
Same the next season when we played Man U also in the League Cup.
Both were advertised as 35,000 sellouts I believe.

Last Season i definitely had a gut feeling that Rovers would do it , even to the extent of going for the kill, in a game that would thrill, emotions would pour and got one over William Hill by getting the correct score Seven Nil JB made the right call, last night by not risking any star players picking up any injuries on a heavy pitch when it’s very likely to go down the wire again. and after seeing Jeff Sterling, on Saturday, the Sky football anchor raving about the Gas and if he believes then so do I UTG Very worrying imo that Argyle made 8 changes and walked all over us last night and could have won by 4 or 5. Only one game I know but the weakness of our squad was severely exposed. Urgent reinforcements needed this month.

Certainly hoping it’s not a repeat of the 6-1 defeat I saw there about 30 years ago!
Think Gareth Taylor may have been making his debut that day - as a CB. Not a successful debut!
