I don't know about anyone else, but i'm getting sick and tired hearing about the fear factor. I thought Clarke was going to sign players with a bit of backbone that could handle playing for a club with expectations? Now all we hear in every other interview is "fear" and players playing with a "fear factor". Utterly pathetic.
Last Season - "I'll be picking a team that shows me this week who wants to wear the shirt on Saturday and overcome the fear and expectations."
Altrincham - "Mental fear is certainly one of the reasons and it only gets worse when you put in performances like that."
Braintree - "Is it a fear factor? I don't know. Teams have come back from 2-0 down before and I want to see my team show a bit more belief. I don’t like to use the phrase, but it seemed to me like we chucked in the towel and that is not acceptable. The fans have a right to be angry because for the last 30 minutes we looked absolutely clueless.”
Perhaps mentioning "fear", "big club", "big budget" and "expectations" every other interview is contributing to the so-called "fear factor"?
I don't know how the guy can expect his team to have a backbone when he cries and is 'visibly shaken' after a defeat. The guy needs to grow a pair, man up and lead by example. Regardless of what anyone thinks or wants, the guy is here to stay (for now). We are reliant on him sorting this team out (scary thought). If anything, he is putting the fear into his team with talk like this. Self-fulfilling prophecy and all that.
Oh and he needs to stop filling a whole article/interview (yes whole article, read them) with meaningless cliches that say nothing.
