Yes - I'm slightly confused why anyone would see Port Vale as a better bet than Walsall. Perhaps he received assurances about being backed etc. Pay rise? Some worrying writing on the Walsall wall perhaps? Edit. How long is his Vale contract? Three and a half years apparently which is a remarkable achievement for him

Port Vale
On 15 February 2021, Daryll Clarke was appointed as manager of Port Vale, who were 18th in League Two and without a permanent manager since the departure of John Askey at the start of January.
He arrived a week after David Flitcroft's appointment as director of football.
DC was at Rochdale on loan when David Flitcroft was there too.
DC played in only game for Port Vale on loan from Hartlepool.
