Tommy Fury has hand surgery he's been 'putting off for years'..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/24/18/80421803-13002159-Tommy_Fury_24_revealed_he_underwent_surgery_on_Wednesday_after_s-a-80_1706119745447.jpgTommy Fury has had surgery on a hand injury he has been "putting off for years" so he can "move forward with his boxing career". A post on Instagram showed Britain's Fury in a hospital bed following the operation, revealing he has been carrying the injury since 2019. Fury last fought against social media star KSI in October, winning on points. "Since 2019 I have been dealing with a hand injury that I've never spoken about/shared online," said Fury, 24. "Since my third professional fight, I have been trying to manage this injury, training and fighting through extreme pain which led me to often not being able to use my right hand at all. "For the last four weeks of my last camp I trained solely with my left hand until fight night." Cruiserweight Fury, who is undefeated since debuting in 2018, alluded to a return to action later this year. "This morning I underwent the surgery I've been putting off for years as I know this is the only way my hand will heal and I can move forward with my boxing career," said Fury. "I'm excited for my recovery journey and so ready to be back feeling and giving 100% in 2024."

Conor Benn grinds out hard-fought decision victory over Peter Dobson in second fight since positive drugs test..By Tum Balogum, Mail-Onlinei.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/03/23/80819009-13042497-image-a-21_1707004713449.jpgConor Benn earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over little-known American Peter Dobson in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The 27-year-old, who was fighting Stateside for the second time since he failed two drugs tests in the lead up to his scheduled fight with Chris Eubank Jr in October 2022, dominated the scorecards 119-109, 118-110, 118-110 despite being taken the distance. Benn was made to work for victory in the welterweight clash, as the New York native weathered his flurry of punches, though he did rock his opponent with a stinging left-hook early on. Benn had looked set to finally fight Eubank Jr on February 3 after their 2023 bout was cancelled due to Benn's positive test for the banned substance clomifene two days before the event. The welterweight prospect has maintained his innocence ever since and made his comeback against Mexico's Rodolfo Orozco in September, winning the 10-round contest on points. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/03/23/80818987-13042497-image-a-20_1707004617982.jpgOrozco subsequently tested positive for a banned substance in the aftermath of the fight. After coming through that fight unscathed, Benn and his team were keen to reschedule the clash with Eubank Jr, as tensions between the pair had only ratcheted up since their original fight was called off at the last minute. Eddie Hearn revealed in November that they could have fought at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night - instead of Benn facing Dobson. But a deal could not be struck, leading to Benn facing Dobson instead as he looks to continue to rebuild his career after a lengthy lay-off. The difficulties in organising the much-anticipated clash have clearly stuck with promoter Eddie Hearn, who didn't miss the opportunity to hit out at Eubank Jr for passing up the chance to fight for a mega payday. 'People will always criticise Conor Benn but will they step up and fight him?' Hearn said on Saturday night. 'He still wants the names at 147 pounds. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/03/23/80819027-13042497-image-a-22_1707004756540.jpg'I'm still baffled by Chris Eubank Jr. People talk about him making 160 pounds, no one talks about Conor Benn moving up two divisions to fight him. 'He'll criticise tonight, he'll talk about this but yet he'll continue to turn down a payday three times bigger than he can get anywhere else. 'So if [Benn] is easy work and you want to make the biggest fight in the history of British boxing, make it. I'm just still baffled by that.' 'He's a p***y,' Benn added bluntly. 'That's it, that's all there is to it.'

Anthony Joshua's fight v Francis Ngannou this friday 8th march 2024, with the WBA to crown new super-welterweight champion in fight for vacant title.
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/29/17/81883607-0-image-m-26_1709229096951.jpg Anthony Joshua's fight against Francis Ngannou has seen another world title fight added to its undercardAnother world title fight has been added to the undercard of Antony Joshua's bout against Francis Ngannou in the second week of March. The two heavyweights will headline the card in Riyadh, with AJ originally meant to face Deontay Wilder before the American's shock defeat to Joseph Parker. Former UFC champion Ngannou will be competing in just his second professional fight, and he is still looking for his first win just five months on from a controversial defeat to Tyson Fury. Ngannou lost via split decision having dropped Fury in the bout, and will now step up to face former heavyweight champion Joshua as he bids to make a name for himself in the boxing world. The undercard is littered with exciting fights, with Israil Madrimov now also set to take on Magomed Kurbanov vacant WBA super-welterweight world title. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/29/17/81883615-0-image-a-20_1709228866615.jpg Joshua will take on Ngannou on March 8th in Riyadh

ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/08D1/production/_132875220_gettyimages-2069515537.jpgPredictions - 'Dangerous fight for AJ' Joshua v Ngannou
Heavyweight Otto Wallin: "I hope Joshua will come out aggressive again because then I think he will knock him out. We know Ngannou has power and if Joshua tries to play safe then he might get clipped. But I hope he is aggressive. If he knocks Ngannou out it makes me look better." Heavyweight Zhilei Zhang: "AJ by knockout." Heavyweight Joseph Parker: "I can't really call it. It's a tough one. Ngannou is a good friend of mine and AJ is very respectful and we do have chats here and there. It will be a good fight. May the best man win." Retired world champion and boxing coach Anthony Crolla: "You know what I did last time, I made myself look very silly by saying Francis Ngannou had absolutely zero chance of never mind beating Tyson Fury or giving him a half decent fight and I ate humble pie. However, I think the shock element is not there now. "I believe we'll see Anthony Joshua win inside five rounds. I think it'll be entertaining, he'll start fast and look to put Ngannou in his place. He won't have the same unpredictability and be underestimated like Fury did. AJ inside five." Former world champion Hannah Rankin: "This is a dangerous fight for AJ as he has everything to lose but he has the better skillset and boxing brain so I think, as long as he keeps it long and doesn't get involved inside with Ngannou, he'll take the win." Heavyweight Joe Joyce: "It could go either way, it's a big fight. They're both powerful guys dedicated in training. It could be a double KO like the trailer. May the best man win, 50/50 fight for me." Super-flyweight prospect Shannon Ryan: "My fight prediction is a ninth-round knockout by the main man himself, Anthony Joshua." Lightweight world title contender Rhiannon Dixon: "I was really shocked at how well Francis Ngannou did in the Fury fight. Sometimes, when I've sparred MMA fighters, they don't box conventionally, it's quite difficult to figure them out. You get caught with these weird shots like a superman punch. But Joshua has made a lot of improvements so I think AJ will win. Maybe by stoppage." Heavyweight Moses Itauma: "My initial thought was AJ would knock Francis out late but then I clocked onto his UFC fight and even his fight with Tyson fury, he gets caught big and doesn't move. I think AJ's experience and boxing IQ will prevail and it'll be a unanimous points victory." Cruiserweight Viddal Riley: "AJ to win between rounds five and seven." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/9be87656-dce5-4be9-b402-6c462448ec0d.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/8/ad7d7751-6cff-481b-86c9-d601995b806c.pngichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/8/efd43ee0-a10b-459b-8b73-7d23314ea12b.pngichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/126f58ae-787d-4f55-93de-47b2a9631249.jpg Round one - knockdown - Ngannou is down ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/173e7848-a9e1-4673-b06f-aff7aeb037dd.jpg

Joshua beats Ngannou by knockout - Ngannou has only just got back to his feet. He was lay flat on his back for some time after taking that punch but the medics were quick into the ring to provide treatment.

Anthony Joshua speaking to DAZN after knocking out Francis Ngannou: "On the road to the championship, you should always stay focussed. I thought this was something for the broadcasters to get behind. When I saw the fight with Tyson Fury I thought I want some of that. He is a great champion and this doesn't take anything away from his capabilities. I told him not to leave boxing. He's two fights in and he fought the best. "The Ben Davison performance centre, I appreciate them highly. All of these guys that I worked with until this day. I'm just hungry. Stay hungry and all that good stuff. "It only takes one shot in the heavyweight division. Joseph Parker is one of my favourite fighters, he had it tough and look at him now. I'm just doing it while I'm here and making the most of it. In five years I won't be fighting. "Eddie Hearn and my team will shape my future. I'm going back to my cage and when they let me out, I'll fight again. "The people of Cameroon, I appreciate you. Africa united, respect. Everyone here tonight, I appreciate you. Thank you to Francis Ngannou." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/a24bfbd1-e254-498a-bbbe-c4c3d9cb9055.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/c00c2ad1-9f53-43a3-8621-6b3112b8a469.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/3/9/77a3bebf-17ad-4f55-a83c-dd43c5f6519f.jpgMatchroom chief Eddie Hearn, speaking to DAZN: "I'm so proud of him because there was a huge amount of pressure. If we won this fight then he would fight the winner of Fury v Usyk. You're looking at the number one heavyweight in the world. "On this form, there is no man that can beat him. Tyson Fury please beat Usyk because you will get the biggest fight in the history of the sport. As a fighter, he's an inspiration to young people. What I said would happen, happened. He destroyed Francis Ngannou. He's a beast and I cannot wait for him to beat Tyson Fury."

Dillian Whyte makes winning return to the ring after going 'through a lot of hell'..By Sam Drury, BBC Sport.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/03/14/81980905-13151523-image-a-56_1709475092096.jpgDillian Whyte says he has "been through a lot of hell" after making a winning return to the ring in Ireland. The former WBC interim heavyweight champion secured his 30th career win when his opponent Christian Hammer failed to get up from his stool for the fourth round. It was Whyte's first bout since since clearing his name of doping offences. "Not a lot of people can go through what I've been through and come back again," he told Fight Connect TV. Whyte was due to fight Anthony Joshua in August 2023 but the clash was cancelled after the 35-year-old Briton returned "an adverse finding" from a doping test. He protested his innocence and was subsequently cleared when an investigation showed that his positive test was caused by a contaminated supplement. In his first fight since a win over Jermaine Franklin at Wembley in November 2022, Whyte dominated the Romanian-born Hammer in Castlebar on St Patrick's Day. The two fighters exchanged words after the referee was forced to stop the bout and Whyte called Hammer a "coward" during his post-fight interviews. "I just want to fight again in about six to eight weeks time. I need to fight," he said. Speaking to Boxing Social, he added: "I've been through a lot of hell, a lot of darkness and pent up frustration and aggression. "Wherever I can be busy, then I'll go there and fight. I'm running out of time. I'm not getting any younger. "I don't know what's next, I just want to fight. Let's see what happens."

Joe Joyce v Kash Ali: Heavyweight Brit labours to 10th-round stoppage win..By Emma Smith, BBC Sport.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/07/13/22/16010904-0-image-a-38_1563053801442.jpgJoe Joyce laboured to a much-needed win over Kash Ali in the 2016 Olympic medallist's first bout since being knocked out by Zhilei Zhang. Joyce, who lost his unbeaten record in back-to-back losses to Zhang last year, was expected to overwhelm Ali in the undercard bout in Birmingham. Joyce struggled to land a finisher on Ali, although he grew in confidence later on. As Ali tired, Joyce eventually brawled to a 10th-round knockout. With seven seconds remaining of the final round, a short right hand sent Ali to the canvas for the first time in the evening. Although the 32-year-old tried to clamber back to his feet, he was marginally too slow as the referee's count reached 10. Ali had been clear underdog against Joyce, but resisted some hefty blows while landing a couple of his own, and did himself credit despite some chastising words from his corner between rounds. Joyce, meanwhile, looked cumbersome, clearly still bearing the scars from the two hefty knockout losses he suffered to Zhang - although doubts about his jaw were dispelled as he shrugged off any blows Ali landed. The 38-year-old had called this 10-round, non-title fight a "fork in the road" of his career, having gone from being next in line to challenge for Oleksandr Usyk's WBO title to being on the undercard at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham as Nathan Heaney versus Brad Pauls headlined. Joyce, who had spoken about "dark times" and being "slagged off on social media", was expected to get back in the saddle against Ali. Ali, though, is no patsy and attempted some big shots from the off including a giant overhand right in the third round, perhaps aware that he would struggle to outpoint the Rio 2016 silver medallist. With a three-and-a-half stone weight advantage, Joyce's punches should have hurt Ali more, but he brought very little energy and forward momentum for most of the fight. The fight fell into a repetitive pattern, with Joyce doing just enough to win each round but never more than the bare minimum - and certainly not enough to dispel his doubters, despite the last-gasp knockout.

Mike Tyson v Jake Paul: Former world champion says boxing match will be an exhibition bout..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/30/09/82445599-13254767-Tyson_and_Jake_Paul_who_has_a_9_1_record_with_six_KOs_will_fight-a-17_1711791269141.jpgFormer world champion Mike Tyson says his boxing match against YouTuber Jake Paul on 20th July will be an exhibition bout and not an official fight. Tyson, whose professional career ended in 2005, will turn 58 three weeks before facing Paul in Texas. Paul, 27, beat Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight last month. "This is called an exhibition, but if you look up 'exhibition' you will not see any of the rules will be fighting under. This is a fight," Tyson said. The contest - which will not count to their professional records - will broadcast live on streaming platform Netflix. It will take place at Arlington's AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys, which has a seating capacity of 80,000. Tyson had his most recent exhibition bout in April 2020 against Roy Jones Jr, which ended in a draw. Exhibitions usually do not end in a winner being declared. Paul has won nine of his 10 boxing fights, mostly against ex UFC fighters, with his solitary defeat coming to Briton Tommy Fury in February 2023. Speaking to Fox Sports, Tyson said Paul - who rose to fame by posting videos online - has come "a long way from YouTubing". "I saw a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances. That's not the guy I'm gonna be fighting," Tyson said. "This guy is gonna come, he's gonna try to hurt me, which I'm accustomed to, and he's gonna be greatly mistaken." Tyson become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at 20, when he beat Trevor Berbick in his first title fight in November 1986. The American finished his career with 50 wins and six defeats. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/30/09/82445567-13254767-The_high_profile_fight_will_take_place_with_no_headgear_with_Tys-a-18_1711791271916.jpg

Shorts worn by Muhammad Ali at the 'Thrilla in Manila' could fetch up to $6MILLION at auction...by Jake Fenneri.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/01/18/83117623-13260441-image-a-9_1711993575024.jpgA special pair of boxing shorts worn by 'The Greatest' to ever step in a ring could fetch some big bucks at auction in the coming days. Muhammad Ali's trunks that he wore at the 'Thrilla in Manila' against Joe Frazier- one of the most storied fights in boxing history - are up for sale at Sotheby's in New York City. With the current bid on the iconic piece of memorabilia sitting at $3.8million, Sotheby's believes that it could fetch in a range between four and six million dollars by the time the lot closes on April 12th. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/01/18/83117625-13260441-image-a-8_1711993571502.jpgThe bout is universally regarded as one of the greatest and most brutal fights in the history of professional boxing - going 14 rounds in sweltering 120°F (49°C) heat. It ended after Frazier's corner men told the referee to stop the fight. Frazier's trainer, Eddie Futch, decided to call the fight after seeing the results of the 14th round - where Ali hit him with a flurry of punches - that left 'Smokin' Joe' barely able to see. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/01/18/83117631-13260441-image-m-11_1711993620194.jpgUnbeknownst to Frazier's corner, Ali was also about to retire - after instructing his trainers to cut off his gloves. He later told biographer Thomas Hauser, 'Frazier quit just before I did. I didn't think I could fight anymore.' A friend of Frazier's who was at the fight, Denise Menz, later described the atmosphere in the Araneta Coliseum as 'So intensely hot, I've never before felt heat like that in my life. Not a breath of air—nothing. And that was sitting there. Can you imagine being in the ring? I don't know how they did it.' It was the third and final fight between the two boxing legends - giving Ali a 2-1 advantage over Frazier and retaining his three heavyweight championship belts.

Tyson Fury says Oleksandr Usyk is too small to beat elite heavyweights..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/10/16/83459925-13292835-Tyson_Fury_claimed_he_could_still_beat_Oleksandr_Usyk_if_he_weig-a-16_1712762946944.jpgTyson Fury says Oleksandr Usyk is too small to compete with him in their undisputed heavyweight world title fight. Briton Fury, 35, is the WBC champion, while Ukraine's Usyk, 36, holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts. Fury said former cruiserweight champion Usyk will be "found wanting" on 18th May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. "You can beat the average big ones but you can't beat the elite big ones," he said. "Size is what really matters and we have weight divisions for a reason." A former undisputed champion at cruiserweight, Usyk beat Briton Anthony Joshua to become unified heavyweight champion in 2021. The most recent undisputed heavyweight champion was Britain's Lennox Lewis in 1999. Fury-Usyk will be the first time in the four-belt era that every title is on the line. February's bout was rescheduled after Fury suffered a cut in a freak sparring accident two weeks before the fight. Fury described himself as an "encyclopaedia in boxing" and listed several cruiserweight greats, including Evander Holyfield and David Haye, who were beaten after stepping up to heavyweight. He said Usyk's previous opponents, such as Britain's Daniel Dubois, had "limited ability". "If Tyson Fury can't beat Usyk, Tyson's no good. End of," he said. "This is my time, my destiny, my era and my generation. Facts." After his manager, trainer and promoter predicted a knockout win for Fury, he ended the news conference by joking that Usyk would knock him out in the 1st round. Fury's co-promoter Frank Warren said the fight is the "biggest of the 21st Century". i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/10/16/83460169-13292835-They_will_go_head_to_head_on_May_18_in_Riyadh_after_Fury_s_eye_i-a-17_1712762946947.jpg
