Reffed at Maine Road once. The pitch there was the largest in the league along with Port Vale.I was so far behind play I whistled for a free kick against a player called John Deehan just to get my breath back!!!!!!!!!!! Think Eastville was one of the smallest along with Halifax. According to the Observer's Book of Soccer 1978 edition the old Belle Vue Ground (Doncaster Rovers) was the largest pitch area at 118.5 by 79 yards. I think Maine Road was next at 117 by 79. Gigg Lane (Bury - RIP) was 116 by 80. Vale Park was a mere 116 by 76! Halifax and Swansea were the smallest at 110 by 70. Eastvile was shown as 112 by 76 although I'm sure it soon shrunk to 110 by 70. I'd have to check an old Rothman's Yearbook for that. Ah those were the days... Love The Rothmans books

None are near the statutory maximum of 130 by 100. All the big stadia seem to have the 'middle' point of about 115 by 75 now, don't they?

Crikey, you can have a pitch as narrow as 45 metres.
Sides are missing a trick here, reduce the pitch without notice to the away side who play with width, and practice all week on the reduced area.

Pitch cannot be changed during season Shame. But you could go for the smallest dimensions and would have an home advantage.
