Brilliant, so we have: Higgs, Dunford Bradshaw, King, Ware, Jelf, Seymour-Smith, Masters. More Directors than you can shake a stick at, every single one of them carrying responsibility for record losses and 2 relegations, none of them have resigned but they think it's right to get rid of Steve Burns and Trish, neither of who, as far as I'm aware, have done anything wrong. If the volunteers who work at Pirate Leisure continue to man the shop for free then I only hope their consciences are clear when they see Steve clear his desk and leave for the last time. Don't forget the 'Financial Director' who still doesn't know the financial consequences of being relegated.

I certainly don't want any announcement on a playing budget that should be a closely carded secret between the board & manager. Let's hope the manager gets the budget he wants then, or he may have to go round the back of the bike sheds and have a little cry about it. Have spent a few hours looking at the standard of Conference football, only on YouTube, but to be honest, it's dreadful. I have no idea why people are saying it's a hard League to get promoted out of? Surely even Higgs can organise a team to get out of that park League at the right end? As for the review on Dunford, he's already answered that, he handed over a promotion squad to Ron Craig, so nothing is Geoff's fault. If you don't actually manage to storm the League and be 18 points ahead of everyone at Christmas (no reason why you can't) please be sure to report back. I've saved it and if you don't report back I will (if applicable, of course). Yes it is dreadful particularly when your best striker has two on him and both are trying to kick him off the park. Sometimes they succeed and occasionally unnoticed by either the ref or his lino's. Bit like League 2 come to think of it. Or the old Fourth Division as elderly persons used to call it before it was remarketed as.....errr....League Two. The truth is that none of us would be down here if we were any good. Including the players. How are you going to cope with this?

Including the players. How are you going to cope with this? It's not my problem to 'cope with', but, from what I can see, the standard of football is awful. If it's as bad as it looks on YouTube, and I've looked at extended ''highlights'' (stop laughing at the back) of all of the teams in the division last year, then unless Rovers are an awful lot better than those park teams the supporters simply won't waste their time and money watching it. You can go to The Downs (large open area in the posh part of town with multiple football pitches) and watch 22 blokes all chasing after a ball and clattering into each other, for free. Of course Rovers are there on merit, but it's a shocking standard, so it's hard to see why people bang on about how difficult it is to beat the teams there? Any half decent team with a little bit of organisation and pace will destroy most of the dross they will come up against. You think there isn't an equal amount of gamesmanship in L2, most of which the hopeless refs and linos at that level either don't see or chose to ignore because everybody is doing it to each other?

The top half teams in the Conference would be competitive and comparable with the teams in League 2 IMHO.

But like the Fourth Division it isn't wonderful. If you are down here you just have to put up with it.
You either abandon supporting your club or stick with them and get on with it.
Prepare yourself for incoming players pledging to take a "big club who should not be down here" back to the Football League "where they belong".
It is entirely your problem to cope with because, my opinion only, if you don't storm the league your posters will turn on both your Manager and players both from the pitch and on this and other message boards.
Your current manager talked a good game (don't they all?)on your radio station but if you happen to lose 2-0 away on a Tuesday night in February to Braintree Town his remarks at the time will count for f**k all I would suggest.
It is no good whining about the standard of football via YouTube or anything else. Put together an invicible team and blast your way out of it. Or not, as the case may be. Keep them together and go for a double promotion back to League One (or Third Division.) Or not as the case may be.

PS and apropos nothing: Mark Tyler, a quality goalkeeper, was on £2000 a week at Luton in the Conference which was only a marginal drop from Peterborough. I have no idea whether you are going for established players or will join in the hunt for the almost mythical "lower league gems" or how they will turn out and so I find you hard to predict.

There may be more staff cuts at BRFC as the budget for next season is compiled. many sponsors wont buy advertising space in the stadium and programme I am sure. Plus the small matter of the exit of the Rugby Club to BS3. Something like £300k per season lost on rental and bar sales etc

Steve Burns was a great servant to Bristol Rovers. Steve was an excellent director and was very strong in the boardroom when representing the fans views. Really?

"Any half decent team with a little bit of organisation and pace"
I believe I have located a tiny little weak spot in your reasoning.

a few of us always end up chatting to Steve Burns before the turnstiles open. Have always found him helpful. Shame if true about him and Trish

As other posters have pointed out....it's been a month since we knew that we were relegated, but still no news of changes to the Board (except JW's departure), no dates for 'review' reports, no news about rebuilding the team (maybe one signing this week) plenty of news about players leaving....the appalling arrogance of the Board in the way they are treating their fans (customers) clearly shows their total incompetency as business men.I have supported this club for 58 years and now live 6000miles away, have spent thousands of pounds supporting them in the past and now feel totally humiliated by this group of incompetent idiots....

Steve was an excellent director and was very strong in the boardroom when representing the fans views. Agree with both of you. He was also highly supportive of the Share Scheme Committee and helped Tim Blake, Sladey and myself with the fundraising quizzes, the Bullseye Night, Gas Idol, Vintage Gas nights and much, much more. One of the good guys. I don't follow this fiasco as closely as a lot of you guys do now, but if what I'm hearing is that Steve Burns and Trish have been collateral damage of last season, that's incredibly sad. The club is running out of people prepared to put the hours in out of love, and as I keep saying to Rick, that's a very dangerous position to be in when you're asking for volunteers. What a mess..Tim
