Awful thread at such an early stage in his time at Rovers, but it's been poor, has'nt it. From top of the form league to near bottom From 4th in the table to mid-table.
Do you see it improving?
The Board told us "he was the outstanding candidate".Were the rest flesh eating zombies?Or is that the board?
It must be tough on Ben right now,he can't be enjoying himself, for that I feel sorry for the bloke. But Rovers are the important thing here. We've gone from organised fighting challengers to a confused lost relegation candidates. In 7 games.
I hope I'm wrong and things work out but I'm afraid I think the Board have slipped up badly and we ought to say 'sorry, thanks and goodbye' to Ben as soon as possible.
Stay or go?

More to the point, do we think the board or owners care? Or care what posters on forums think?

After seeing Maher's one game in charge I thought he would have been the natural choice knowing the players' strengths and weaknesses as he does. He would have handled the transition better I think and got us through the rest of the season relatively unscathed. He was doing more coaching from the dugout than Garner yesterday. It looks like Garner was the wrong choice mid-season and he's only managed to rock the boat so far. Should have given it to Maher with Garner waiting in the wings to take over next season if need be.

Stay.
Needs the fixture list to slow down, as currently they cant be having a great deal of time on the training ground.
If we get close to the relegation zone, then I would probably change my mind.
The combo of being in an elevated position in the league, Xmas fixtures and a manager walking out was hardly a nice starting point for him.

I'm with "stay". No-one deserves sacking after less than a month in charge. I'll give him 12 league games. It was a poisoned chalice, we all knew that. Bolton and Southend have already booked their relegation slots, so there's only one place remaining for the 10 Clubs above them (including Rovers). Rovers are 200-1 to go down. Bookies don't do generosity. With only 23 teams it throws out all my previous statistics on the number of points required to stay up. Previously 52 was (pretty much) nailed on survival. So even at that lofty target that's only 16 points required from 24 games. 2 points every three games. Mind you from what I have seen and heard... 200-1? Might have a tenner on that!

pointless thread ... as the OP is sure within his own mind that the current guardians of this club will not move him out before the end of this season

I honestly believe that we won't win another game between now and end of February.
The fans will want him long gone by then.
The fact that he did not do the post-match interview, to spend time with his mate Mooreo, said it all.
Nice but weak geek.

Apologies if this goes a bit off-topic. I do not promote gambling. However - I did put £5 (max bet) at Skybet @ 200-1. Betfair and Paddy Power have Gas relegation @ 150-1. I was looking at Oddschecker and Rovers had an * against their name in the betting... it means a "top tip". Here is what their top tipster wrote on 31st July 2019. "I was gutted when Darrell Clarke was sacked by Bristol Rovers (21st) last season. It was the right time to go, but what he did for that football club can’t ever be underestimated. This season I do seriously fear for the Gas; Graham Coughlan should be given time after last season’s heroics, but the ultra-reliance on Jonson Clarke-Harris’ goals is something that looks unsustainable – particularly with other striking options looking thin. With long-serving Tom Lockyer and Stuart Sinclair also moving on—two vastly experienced campaigners—I do feel some of the heart of this team has been lost, and if Clarke-Harris cannot replicate last season’s form, they’re in huge bother".

If we get some wins at the end of the season we will presumably scrape enough points to stay up. It's off the pitch that will be more interesting.

We need to all calm down and try to see the wider picture here Bas. Ben Garner was clearly instructed to stop the charge to a disastrous promotion, ‘ to finish as high up the table as possible’ certainly isn’t the jingoistic play offs talk we all got wrapped up in. The indications and references made to his outstanding work with younger players also suggests the offloading asap of the serial and most expensive failures we are currently carrying. We need 16 points to stay up and we could fail to get those mate if the anger and frustration that spilled over yesterday in the booing off the park of a side full of young players continues and they become intimidated playing at the Mem. I think the Al-Qadi reign is close to being over and a buyer wants the excessive costs dealt with before it moves forward in effect take the s**te out the door with you. I’m as pissed off as anybody with the state this club finds itself in but when sides as brilliant as Doncaster turn up and they were outstanding Bas, that every effort these kids put in got dashed with two late goals the last thing we need is to turn on them rather than the culprits that can’t even face occupying box 1. Ben Garner also doesn’t deserve utter humiliation in our search for a scapegoat.

Ridiculous post and only one decision at present- Stay. Had he been here two or three months and producing such lack lustre performances then go but we have to give him the time to see what we are like in February after the window closes. Lets be honest if it was easy to get rid of players and replace then I would say remove Nichols,Bennett, Mensah, Smith, Little, Clarke, Barnsley loanee, Matthews,Rodman, Leahy, Kelly however we have owners who would only replace on the cheap and therefore maybe it is a case of better the devil you know.

Back to Ben. Nice Guy 👍 Good Coach 👍 Manager 👎 Someone to stir passion of supporters👎👎 Results and Crowd Attendance 👎👎👎 And same re iew of GC? Just as a balance. His main contribution during games from what I could see was to shout at players if they made a mistake. If they did not know that the pass or cross was wrong then there is a big issue.

Saved us from relegation to the 4th tier. Led us to 4th in the 3rd tier.

After only 6 matches it is way too soon to be asking stay or go, he is here until the end of the season at least, support him or...GO.

It's only my likkle opinion from post Ipswich (I was there).
When GC upped and left, the magic that he created with his alchemy, we should have tried to emulate.
We were winning and drawing games from a team perspective, all pulling together, with players playing to their strengths and a spirit that made us very hard to beat. A 1989/90 revival.
We still had our weaknesses. We always would do.
Individually, players that were very normal were over performing and contributing. Their errors were being covered up week after week on two long runs of being dominated in matches but not losing.
GC made us 'hard' and that's why it's a long way round to say I think we should have appointed from within..
An appointment from within would have made attempt to carry on all that was good....I understand this might not have been popular as perceived to be cheap option etc or not appointing a 'name' as huge fanbase wanted Ollie, but we had momentum.
So, KM to me gets the gig if he can re-establish some sort of cohesion..
Appointment from within should be default position when you're doing well if you have credible candidates.

Sums up the Club that they could not communicate to the Press that the Manager could not attend because he had an urgent family matter to deal with.
It's a unusual state of affairs that a Manager in his first appointment goes on extended leave after 19 days.
I am not insinuating that it is not genuine, but communication makes the world go around.
