Delighted that we have appointed someone who can actually coach and will encourage young players.
He will be a likeable appointment. Give him time. I don't think that he will change much until end of season. He will be a Paul Trollope type in my opinion. Poise and sense.
The thought of Mark Cooper...was giving me shudders.

Don’t feel inspired by this. Has not played the game but, apparently, has decent contacts. As usual, hoping for the best

Fair play this was sorted quite quickly as well. He will defo have my support.

Mine also but, I have to admit that I was comfortable with recruiting from within. We will have some food for thought in the January window.

Really surprised that Chris Hargreaves did not emerge.
I have just spent £11.98 via Amazon on Where's Your Caravan so that I could get to know the man, the soul, the personality that is Mr Christopher Hargreaves, a legend of Cleethorpes.

Obviously his CV looks good, but we'll find out pretty soon how good he is. He's worked with Steve Coppell,Tony Pulis and Ian Holloway,so there's a nice mix. I wish the bloke and all of us well. Please, let's keep JCH and play a style that suits the squad and sees our challenge keep its Momentum. Come on Rovers!

The club acted quickly so well done to MS I presume. I think it’s an unusual appointment for us but his coaching experience will be good and let’s hope he can grow into the manager role as a No.1. Welcome Ben and good luck. Will be interesting to see if he can get the best out of Tom N, Bennett and a few others as GC did out of Alfie K, Ed Upson. In a way it’s great to have a young, ambitious manager on his way up. Good to see Lee M involved if I interpret the press release correctly. UTG!

I hope he really appreciates the battling competitive qualities needed in the 3rd tier. I may walk out if Bennet is selected!

Only time will tell, I have my doubts, looks like a cheap option and a gamble, one thing for sure he's not going to knock Starnes door down if players are sold in January which Coughlan would have done

This is a fantastic appointment. Usually, we're making managerial appointments to get us out of a relegation battle which means we're looking for a person who knows the league we're in and has great comradery and man-management skills to scrape us through.
For the first time we're in the opposite situation, we're 1 point off an automatic promotion place with no worry of getting relegated. We have a group of players who work their socks off and put their bodies on the line for each other... and that's why I'm overjoyed at the appointment of Ben Garner. We need someone who is more of a coach than a man-manager.
Not only is Ben a good coach, he's one of the best in the country and has UEFA badges coming out of his ears. He is well-liked and respected in the game and has good contacts who will be happy to loan Ben players of a higher caliber than we could attract on a permanent basis.
I actually think this is one of the most exciting appointments we've ever had (in terms of the potential). Obviously the skeptics among us will wait to see the proof, but I truly think we're in for an exciting time at Bristol Rovers Football Club.

4 managers in charge in 4 successive games. Is that some kind of record?
No idea who this guy is.
Welcome and good luck.

He doesn't knock doors down.......he walks through them at the first opportunity. The board deserve some credit on this. They have responded to GC's unexpected departure quickly and have ensured the minimum of turbulence. Garner deserves a chance to show what he can do and the board have given it to him.

Pretty sure Ben Garner's name was mentioned about a year ago. Not sure who the contact at the Club is - but someone must be keeping tabs on him. Welcome to the Club Ben. UTG.

Atkins did a reasonable job and put in place the foundations for the 2007/08 promotion team.
