Some statistical perspective for us. Since we got relegated from the 2nd Tier in 1992/93 this has been our 2nd highest league position on Christmas Day. Only the 1999/2000 season saw us higher at Christmas.

Look what happened end of that 1999/00 season that defeat at relegated Cardiff still haunts me it was the only time in that season we were not in play off position. Roberts and Cureton wanted away and we imploded only one win over City 2-0 in our final ten league matches.

20 years ago. And I'm still angry. I don't think it was lack of effort on Roberts part... Remember getting beaten 2-0 at Reading at the start of that run of 10 games (If I remember correctly) and thinking that something wasn't right.

I was driving the bus when we played Reading, little did we know that was the start of the totally awful end to that season and I will never stop being upset at that. Stopped going fir six years

Whoever the manager was then, after that farce, doubt he would dare show his face here again.

Was on holiday in Florida for that 'Cardiff' game, upon hearing the result I crashed the hire car into some concrete bollards leaving the car park, some very ugly scenes before and after the game, lots of gas injured as well as the terrible result, my most hated non-attended game!....

City lost again today.Only had one shot on target. That shot was after about 10 seconds. They are still too close to the top 6 for comfort though. Lansdown needs to spend £20m on a couple of players and unsettle the squad a bit.

I know the full story there and I was so close to the same. I actually knocked a strangers door and she allowed me in, stayed around an hour then walked until I saw a cab, station & home. Never ever seen such carnage as that day. Not worried to say I bricked it

Christmas 2002 was the worse for me when we spent Christmas Day at the foot of the entire Football League after defeat at Cambridge.
Thankfully it only lasted until Boxing Day when we beat Swansea at The Vetch.

It only really matters where you are at the end of the season.

Thankfully it only lasted until Boxing Day when we beat Swansea at The Vetch. Looking back, I didn’t miss much by boycotting the 6 years after the nearly season though I do feel bloody bad that I basically gave up on the club. I had started to believe the conspiracy theories & I still just hate to think about how we went from top to not even a play off berth. My top choice was that the club couldn’t afford to go up and so they made sure we didn’t. Now I feel very embarrassed by that. It cut me to the bones.

I might be wrong and haven’t checked but istr us having a good Jan and Feb after that 3rd place at Christmas which took us top before we imploded in March and April. I may be very wrong though.😭 UTG!

It only really matters where you are at the end of the season. You're absolutely right. Not saying Christmas matters, but usually we kick into gear after Christmas. Or so the last 20 odd years has shown. I created the post because I'm trying to do anything I can to give the fans who have stopped going to games this season some perspective and desire to return. It's important we celebrate success (even if it's little things like Christmas Day) as we're quite a pessimistic collection of supporters.
