Bristol Live understands the hierarchy at Rovers had no idea of the extent of Coughlan’s unhappiness and did not know of the former Plymouth apparent defender’s sense of resentment until he announced it in his post-match press conference. There has been a sense of confusion around the club regarding Coughlan's complaints as he was well aware of the restrictions when he accepted the full-time job in January, knowing the relative financial excess of previous seasons had to be curbed. Chief executive Martyn Starnes and Head of Recruitment Tommy Widdrington held an emergency meeting in Bristol on Sunday with Al-Qadi joining via video link from Jordan to discuss what happens next, with the club already sounding out potential replacements should the seeming inevitable happen and Coughlan leave. 'Frustration' and 'emotion': Every word from Graham Coughlan's final press conference as Bristol Rovers manager In the dressing room at Portman Road, Coughlan told his players, and later rang those not involved on Saturday, that he was leaving for an unnamed League Two club and would also be taking assistant Joe Dunne with him. Again, if true, more abject management from the club. Your staff are your strongest asset, every business owner understands this and that you need to constantly communicate with them and make sure that, in both directions, everybody understands what everybody else is trying to do and that there's agreement as to how that is going to be achieved. I thought that Higgs running of the club was poor, these guys are beginning to make him look rather good. Now, let's take a look around the board room, who do we have with contacts in the game, a little black book of numbers, someone ideal for a crisis like this? I know, we have Hamer... Quite agree with you Bamber about managing staff and the importance of communication. But Listening to Martyn Starnes’ interview it is clear that he is a football enthusiast just like Wael and so long as he is “part of the game” it doesn’t really matter which club he is at or how effective his performance is. We seem to have a lot of nice gentle people who chanced upon an equity release scheme which has allowed them to amble along in their own little world for a while. So it’s no surprise that anyone with fiery passion and a competitive streak, like Darrel Clarke and Graham Coughlan, would find it difficult to work for long in that kind of environment.

Spot on Swiss. Having just listened to the Starnes interview I was thinkink, no shouting out loud, where's the passion, the drive, the raw ambition? His 'non answers' on a possible JCH transfer, the search for a new manager and the traning/stadium left me completely uninspired. Credit to him for fronting up but motivating it wasn't.

I fell for the "family first" stuff and thought he was being honourable.
That was a crock of crap then. Goodbye and good riddance.

But nobody seemed to like him, from what I've read and heard. And he knew it. Why stay where you're not liked. I wouldn't, not if there was an alternative that offered less stress and more chance of a decent work/life balance. It doesn't sound like anyone's upset that he's gone, it's just people are miffed at the way it unfolded.

As usual Rovers appear to be a thorough disappointment.
Couglan has let us down.
The chances are the achievement and momentum won by Couglan and the players is about to disintegrate. This is Coughlans band of disciplines scrappers and unless we hire a man with a like football philosophy, we'll end up nearer the bottom four than top four.
Michael Duff currently achieving great things St the Glos Robins.

We might get 'pretty' football though Basel. That's what everyone was wanting, I thought.

I would like to ask Martyn why he thinks Rovers can make the Championship?
1.Manager has just walked. 2.To successfully replace him will be difficult. 3.Our goalscorer will probably leave in January. 4.To successfully replace him will be difficult. 5.No new training ground. 6.No new stadium.
Just what is it Martyn?

I think one of the reasons league one appears weaker this season is that our team has been stronger and well organised not to mention some good recruitment. The trouble is the football has been dull throughout the coughlan era mostly, attendances are well down and the crowd are quiet. Add to that a gang of blokes behind the dugout chucking abuse at the manager during the game. Unloved manager about to be sh** on in january looks for a better situation nearer home. Personally i don't blame him but also admit i could not take to him.

Unlikable but successful. The players he bought in have done the club proud. Potentially the best manager we nearly had.

Starnes has also indicated that Rovers may consider offers for star striker Jonson Clarke-Harris in January.
He said: "Every player has a value. If an offer came in we'd have to consider whether it's in the best interests of the club."
possibly another reason to be out of it!!
but having said that it's 3 on the bounce now without him in the team

No passengers on board when the opposition have the ball.A goalscorer! Great GK!A great defence and a midield that fight.Etc. Coughlan did a fantastic job. I'm backing an approach for Michael Duff of Cheltenham Town. Our squad will be an excellent fit for him.Give us a decent chance of keeping the Momentum going.

After hearing JD speak after tonight's game I'm pretty sure JD will soon be off to Mansfield Town.
