While no fan of this manager, it would be somewhat churlish to sack him on the day we moved up to a playoff fifth position in the third division.

GC seems to be a specialist in the curate's egg situation when it comes to football matches - unbelievably poor and unappetising in parts and yet with the very pleasing flavour of ten goals in the last 3 league matches.

LOL definate not in a balcony, stick by my comments I dont think Mister Coughlan will ever provide a Rovers team that play football that will atract the fans. Southend imploded today. We got back ij the game due toa dodgy penalty and the long ball.

No, we got back in it playing a high pressing game with quick tackling and movement and they couldn't live with us. Long passes are not the same as long balls. Whatever he said to them at halftime, it worked.

We got away with that today. Could easily have been 4 down at half time. Ok, the players woke up second half and outplayed a very poor Southend side, who had outplayed us in the first half.
It's still crap football and I'm with the original poster. Coughlan out. 🙂

I have been quite a harsh critic of GC but i totally disagree with the op both in terms of the manager and some of the players he wants out. In the 2nd half today we played direct football how it should be played. By that i mean with aggression.attacking intent as well as genuine width. Too often with coughlan we are too static and passive albeit with decent defensive performance. Today reminded me of the portsmouth game in that we really got after our opponents and they folded. I believe if the manager and the team can be pro-active in really getting after the opposition we will see more of what we saw in the 2nd half today.

Read what their manager is saying, I agree with him. We got 1, they just fell to pieces and stopped doing everything that got them 2-0 up. They lost that game every bit as much as we won it. You can believe whatever you like, but not many teams will fold like they did today.

I have not enjoyed many games under coughlan but with the team high up the league it would be stupid not to stick with him and see where it takes us. If we pressure teams like we did v southend and portsmouth in more matches who knows what could happen?

Coughlan is doing great. He’s achieving a lot of relatively less resources than other clubs around the top of the table.
He’s proved himself and he’s made smart choices in his gameplay this season. He’s got passion, a good coaching team and players playing for their shirt.
Some of us Gasheads need to be careful what we’re wishing for. I’m looking forward to seeing what the transfer window brings over Christmas.

We play so much better when we press; teams in this division, including us, don't cope well with a high press.

I have come to the conclusion that many of our fans don't know s**t from pudding. We have a manager that has made excellent signings, got us to mid table after looking certs for relegation , wins cup games and has got us into a play off position (with a game in hand). Shrewsbury away was apparently one of the most entertaining games in years and we have scored 4 goals in two of our last 3 league games While undoubtedly yesterdays first half was grim, even at 2-0 I thought if we got an early goal we would win, this bunch of players have proved time and again that they will work hard for each other and the manager. As for the OP suggesting GC should take Ogogo with him, words fail me, we will be lucky if we hang on to him! If social media was around in 1990, Gerry Francis, Devon White, Andy Reece, Jock the f**king lot of them would have been hounded out of the club by dolts who wouldn't know a good team if it him them in the face like a misplaced Geoff Twentyman clearance. I'm off for a bit to watch the election coverage , where I will hear politicians talking some comparatively good sense!

It is a results game -all are really. However, to just take two games I did see: we played very well against Burton away and lost, so my trip home still had a positive side - it showed we can play well when we play a high press; Bolton at home was totally different, we lost, played poorly and I drove home depressed and asking myself why we didn't press. GC will be OK, if he continues with these good results, but, if we have a run of 4 or 5 defeats and poor performances, things may be different. Onwards and upwards

Another pointless wind-up thread. Of course it isn't! 5th in the table? 4 goals in each of the last two league matches? Just not good enough!
