Players refusing to play local rivals Crewe tomorrow as they still haven't been paid.Crewe manager on Radio Stoke this morning claimed that Macc don't have a groundsman that there is a question over whether their pitch is fit for purpose as 'It's like a Sunday League pitch'.
NB.See the EFL have introduced the word 'Suspended' now the game is off.

In fact, there was a time when the WSM donkeys were doing children's rides up and down the sandy expanses as half time entertainment.

Quite a few donkeys on it during the game as well......Chris Beardsley springs to mind.

Macclesfield Town: Supporters of financially-troubled club fear 'extinction' By Andrew Aloia
General view of Moss Rose, home of Macclesfield Town Macclesfield Town are in their second season back in the English Football League, after winning promotion to League Two in the 2017-18 season Macclesfield Town fans fear the club's "extinction" and have set up a "hardship fund" to help players and staff through its financial crisis.
The English Football League has suspended Saturday's League Two game with Crewe after the Silkmen said they would be unable to fulfil the fixture.
Macclesfield's players had said earlier this week they would not play in protest over unpaid wages and that their emotional and mental wellbeing was at "rock bottom".
"We are on the brink of extinction, and likely to suffer the same drastic fate as our near neighbours Bury," the Silkmen Supporters' Trust said in a statement given to BBC Sport before Friday's announcement by the EFL.
On Wednesday, ex-manager Sol Campbell backed a bid from HM Revenue & Customs to wind the club up as he is still owed £180,000 by them.

With Southend also not too far from the same fate I wonder how Southend fans feel about Sol Campbell’s action against Macclesfield

And the big clubs can spend £50/100/150 million on players. Sad and sobering but I've long wondered how so many clubs hoped to flourish in a relatively small geographical area.

This is quite funny as it's often been suggested that we have to pay more and have restricted choice of players because we aren't in Manchester / Liverpool / The North East.

Amar Alkadhi. Seems to be an "unlucky" surname.

Pretty sure all 5 Clubs at the foot of Division 2 are in financial difficulties. I wonder if the EFL will be a bit quicker to act in the close season? I actually thought Carlisle were "OK" - then I read the following: www.carlisleunited.co.uk/news/2019/november/club-answers-to-recent-fan-questions/. See question 7,8 and 9 around the ownership by EMW. Question 9: "People are sick to death of EWM's silence. The longer this goes on, the more frustrated fans become, and their respect for EWM sinks". Mmmm, ring any bells? Seems like CUFC are in a similar boat to BRFC, though EMW are all allegedly life-long CUFC supporters. Dwane Sports has one director who is a Rovers supporter (who's support goes back almost 4 years) and 3 directors who would appear not to care.

If you're being absolutely brutal about it then what's wrong is that a club that can barely get 2000 through the gate thinks it can survive as a football league team. The current owner might not be a great guy but they've cycled through quite a few in recent years. If they cut their cloth and accepted that, without a rich owner prepared to burn through money, they are probably a Conference/Conference North yo-yo team at best then they'd probably be fine. But their relative success over the years as non-league overachievers has arguably created false expectations and assumptions about where they need to be in the league structure.
Bury experienced something similar. At some point you've surely gone through enough owners and bankruptcies that you probably need to accept that you need to scale back your ambitions somewhat. Very difficult for Bury, who despite collapsing crowd numbers over the last two decades, continued to see themselves as not just a football league club but a potential Championship level one and probably pretty difficult for Macc to accept too.
That's not to say you can't do it - Morecambe and Accrington have managed. But it's bloody difficult without stability off the field.

Meanwhile we may have the next domino to fall here;
Rumours have been circling up here for years that they have been on the brink. Usual warning signs - cycling through owners, losing control of the ground etc.
