My late Dad always told me if you can't say anything decent about someone then say nothing so there goes my report folks!! No seriously.... wait I am being serious!!!! I am not going to waste two hours writing for what rubbish was dished up last night by supposed to be Professional footballers. I particularly write for those who are unable for whatever reason to make it to the match.. all I can say to those people are you were the lucky ones!
Jaakkola 6.5 MOM
Davies 4 Slow and wasteful with the ball His poorest game in a gas shirt.
Craig 4 Same as Davies
Kilgour 3 Sloppy throughout and his worst game too.
Rodman 3 Full back not, wingback not and last night wingback not.
Upson 4.5 The best of the worst midfield performance of the season.
Ogogo 3.5 Off the pace last night and made to look very ordinary
Clarke 2 Probably kind with the mark but he did manage two shots at goal which was more than most
Kelly 2 Not good enough. How Leahy and Smith were chosen to be the two players dropped is beyond me.
Nichols 2 Another abysmal performance
Adeboyejo 5 At least he tried but with the service received and the fact that we never got any players forward to support the strikers he was bang average.
Subs: Smith 3 Did he touch the ball-seriously cannot remember but if he did it was probably better than most did.
Bennett 2 Played like a player who realises he cannot even get in a bloody awful side.
Crowd 4 7300 of which the entire crowd probably hadn't seen anything like it all season-our fans because it was absolutely awful and the Bolton fans because they won!!
Ref 7 Kettle being better than all our team sums up last night!!
Bolton 7.5 Better than us in ten positions but they didn't need to be good because last night any of our local sides-League or non league would have beaten us. It was that bad.
GC He likes working with this bunch of players- I wonder if the situation in reverse is true and do they like working with him? Based on last night I would say No! This was an insult to the paying public. If we play like this again Saturday then it will be a big away win however bad Pompey are- but it probably won't such is being a Bristol Rovers fan these days. UTG

Pompey probably can't wait for Saturday, especially Brown and Harrison.

Bang average scottish striker becomes manager of sleeping giant in Manchester and turns them into global money machine winning 13 Premier League titles... You need some context to this. The PL decided that they needed a flagship club to promote their product, they choose Utd and gave them all the help they could. In the same way that Citeh have an advantage over Burnley today, Utd had that advantage over everybody for many years. It wasn't all Grunty's doing.

We are clearly a mediocre team with a one-dimensional Manager (defensive shape) who has recruited fairly well - to his credit.
I think that we are now on for a poor run of results, which will return us to a more natural position.
To play TN, Ollie Clarke and Kelly was taking the mick out of our collective intelligence. It is that aspect that can drain support away from the Manager.
The reality is that there is no real love for GC. He has succeeded a very popular Manager and most supporters understand that the type of football served up will stay the same.
He wants to be popular and probably believes that he deserves to be - hence reference to Miracle. The most apt word is Mediocre and will ever be with him in charge.
Words like "grind", "ugly", "play for territory" will dominate the press-match interviews.
Is there an alternative? Risk / reward? No easy answers.

Give most owners an entirely owned stadium, our support base and tell them that they can run a - £3,000,000.00 (Three million quid!) deficit PA and they won't serve you up the garbage we saw last night. Your post is apologetics of the worst type. No easy answers. Poppycock.

What was the easy answer BTW? 😂 Don't spent the £3m on blokes with daft amounts of gel in their hair and trousers that are a bit too short, who probably know PowerPoint inside out, but don't help much with kicking a football in the right direction? Edit. Hamer doesn't have hair gel, and I've not studied his trouser length, but it's hard to understand what exactly he's bringing to the party?

You omitted the words "fight and drink" from post match interviews, they are also regulars. I think his photograph in the match day programme says it all.

GC - a version of Barney Eastwood? DYOR.
He was Barry McGuigan's Trainer and Promoter. Barry loved him initially and then realised that he lost title fights because he was a sh*te trainer.
OK, it was a "not pretty" comparison.
But GC loves to have a fight, and his family even like to pick fights...with Caz on Twitter after criticising GC for team selection.
How long before we hear "I'm not a quitter". Probably on Radio Bristol after we have been dumped out of the Cup by Bromley.

Showing your age a bit now. Last night wasn't just because Ollie isn't L1 standard or Kelly probably isn't a League player, or because our striker was missing. Something has happened to disrupt that dressing room. They were all over the place and look either seriously upset about something or maybe split to me. Does anybody know if the players did their normal 'after match' duties last night?

What I would like to know is what was that long affectionate hug between GC and Nicolle about when was substituted ? Personally I think he should have had his hands around his throat, not hugging him like a long lost relative.

Personally I think he should have had his hands around his throat, not hugging him like a long lost relative. I read on another thread that Nichols shed a tear, that was why he got the prolonged hug from GC, it's fully understandable and justified as he needs to keep our Record Transfer Goal Machine positive for the Portsmouth game.

and at the end of the day, and after Wednesday's results BRFC stand one point from the play-off places and Nine from the relegation zone,,,,, and it's only a game of football, some people need to get a grip on things, there are more important things to rant on about and get worked up over for nothing

... BRFC stand one point from the play-off places and mine from the relegation zone... get a grip... It's not enough. Some want to like or to admire the manager. More want to like or to enjoy the football. Supporter numbers are dwindling.

If we play like this again Saturday then it will be a big away win however bad Pompey are- but it probably won't such is being a Bristol Rovers fan these days. UTG Good report. There is a point I need to make which I think some need to appreciate before any game we play, especially where expectation is high. The opposition is allowed to win. The trouble is, I think our players thought they were going to Roll Over Bolton (sounds like an ELO song..) and our friends from oop north were having none of it. Fair play to them and their amazing fans who sang with brilliant irony 'you must be s**t, we're winning away' and 'we are staying up'. They may well stay up but their teams pre season finished on Saturday, everyone else finished in August, they're 2 months behind everyone. They were good but we made them look really good. A Championship manager was on Sky last night talking about teams wanting to play their football, but in order to do so they have to win the fight first. We lost the fight at 1-0, then 6 or 7 of our team gave up and Bolton deserved to win. They earned it. We had 2 good chances in the first minute. They cut through our midfield and I can't work out why, other than what was described on Steve's report, their forwards dragging Davies and Kilgour away from Craig to expose him, but what about our full backs, what about our midfield? The worst part of last night was our short passing. We didn't pass it simple and keep possession, we try the cross field ball too much when a shorter simpler pass is on. We needed to keep it better at 1-0 and we could have come back. Davies Craig and Kilgour weren't that bad, they were just exposed at times, but they dealt with most of the crosses etc. Keeper did his job, one of only a few who did. Upson didn't have his best night. Fergie said in his autobiography you need at least 8 to be on their A game consistently to win games, he wasn't on it last night. In fact I'd say we had 8 off it last night.. Ogogo was reckless at times, had to watch it after being booked, was clearly warned and then offended again, no complaints. Clarke was awful. His pass to Rodman on the wing was so short, it was a simple 2 v 1 and the 1 won it coz of the pass. Rodman berated him, Clarke argued back, honestly. He gave the ball away regularly and is not showing the form of last season. Take the captaincy off him, it's too much pressure for him, he needs to concentrate on his football. Rodman was rightly MOTM, won numerous headers and rarely gave the ball away. Created some decent chances, then we stopped using him. Kelly was awful, Leahy has nothing to worry about. Poor decision making, especially that shot towards the end. Also too slow to release the ball, shows he's off the pace. Victor was unlucky in the first minute, but his control is too inconsistent and he has not scored goals. He's not taken his freebie opportunity. Smith took his early in the season. Nichols couldn't play football by the end, he gave the ball away so many times in 15 minutes of the 2nd half, was he crying going off? Can someone confirm? Enough is finally enough. I don't get this mentality of players to not be hungry to do better, JCH is on great form and the 2nd striker place is still up for grabs, you would think they'd be rubbing their hands at the chance to replace him for 6 or 7 games, but no one seems to want his place. Give it to a hungry kid who might just might do something different, show no fear, give Moore and Hargreaves a go. The ref touched the ball more often than Bennett and Smith put together. I disagreed with GC's selection but lets be clear about this. That starting 11 was good enough to win that game. I get annoyed by people saying 'who can we bring on' after 20 minutes. The players are responsible and should respond to their manager's instructions. They should also adapt to the game. I don't blame GC for last night, about 6 or 7 of our starting 11 didn't turn up, especially at 1-0. Too many had an off night. This weekend all of the bottom teams in the 4 divisions got away points. Watford at Spurs, Barnsley at WBA, Stevenage at Port Vale and Bolton last night. It happens. It's hopefully a blip and please let's not forget the squad is on the bones of its a*se at the moment, with key players injured. We go again Saturday, because we love the Gas. Trust GC to turn it round. He's done it before.
