The intention might have been to reduce fraud but the turnstile I use is always unmanned. I could easily gain entry with a concession ticket. But that ticket has to come from somewhere. As long as that is controlled no problem.

People who pay cash don’t have a queue, ST holders do. There are two separate entry points. I regularly see queues for those with the cards. There are no cash turnstiles though. everyone has to scan a ticket or tap a card I know. Just pointing out that if you paid cash at ticket office then you go through a different turnstile.
