Wael al-Qadi has defended Dwane Sports' investment record at Bristol Rovers, arguing the club's owners are focused on sustainability.
In an interview published last week with Sport Industry Insider, a Middle Eastern sports business news website, al-Qadi said his aims since taking charge of the club in 2016 was always to grow sustainabilyHe said: "A lot of work has been needed to restructure everything and put effective systems into place. Before it was a very old school way of doing things, which hadn’t changed for many years.
"We had to have a big upheaval, particularly on the commercial side of things.
"A new technical kit supplier has been brought in, and we have upgraded the ticketing system – we now have cards, electric scanners at the gates as well as improvements to the bars, club shop and the installation of a pitch side LED advertising system and big screen.
"We brought in Tom Gorringe, an experienced Premier League commercial director, from Brighton and he is making many important changes, notably to the sponsorship structure.
"The hardest decision came last season when we parted ways with Darrell Clarke.

Very nice, except, Brighton were promoted to the PL at the end of the 2016~17 season, Gorringe arrived at Rovers at the start of the 2017~18 season. I'm not sure that BHA ever kicked a ball in the PL whilst Gorringe was employed by them. Even if they did, he can't have been there for long enough to call him 'an experienced PL commercial director'. He had jobs at Cardiff and Portsmouth, but they weren't as commercial director as far as I can see. |

What was the problem with the ticketing system? With the staff turnover we have already had, would we keep TG on if people thought he was a donut? His Linkedin profile seems pretty encouraging. If he is a donut in disguise, there isn't much shame in us being fooled, as it appears he will have already done the same to Portsmouth (3 years), Cardiff (2 years) and Brighton (3 years) without being detected or anyone providing forewarning. Tom has just completed his second year with Rovers, so I guess we will find out. |

If 200 people turn up at 1455 how many would you expect to get thru?
Not saying that's what happened but the picture does not clarify.
Re the shirt sponsorship, was football index seen as a direct gambling competition to Sky Bet or was pressure put on by Sky Bet?

It's a mess and means that supporters miss the start of games week after week. i am an occasional visitor now, and go most times on the odd impulse, and usually arrive about 2: 45 Saturdays .... your photo shows a queue, and i would imagine there are people in that very queue who are in it quite regular because they cant be arsed to get there earlier for the sake of a pint ., and end up exactly there, not the fault of the ticketing its up to the people who wish to delay/prolong their pints pretty well knowing there is going to be a queue , moan ?probably, but who's fault is that ? |

Either way, my point was this, Wael went out of his way to mention this new system, here's a pic showing what happens regularly at 3pm, this only used to happen with exceptionally large crowds before we had the new 'improved' system. That was my point. |

That was my point. i , as i said am in that queue, and that is MY fault, as it mainly is for the MOST of those there, just get your ass in there earlier... problem mainly solved, ... and like you am not criticising those at the ticket dispensary .... but the system is slow, and even by my lack of IT i can see there is a "slow" choice of ticket area selection problem on those screens |

We had queues when it was cash at the same times because some turnstile were allocated to tickets, some for cash.
Credit to Bambi for recognition TG isn't the devil incarnate, but weighing up his credentials TG has brought more money in the form of sponsorship since his appointment than ever in history of club, increased our green ecological profile, made matchdays more enjoyable with a big screen (because who doesn't look at it when in stadium?). Mintbet, fine which Bambi loves to quote, but won't mention Football Index....that sponsorship was the first football club for them and it was so successful, we made shed loads and they made shed loads so much they're now advertising in Championship. So, success all around.
That with nationally recognised season ticket media video, an end of season award ceremony that is envy of all sports associations in Bristol for it's professionalism, MKD restaurant sell out last week and continued success in hospitality, Thatchers and Butcombe bars renovated - at no cost to us - and club shop by Macron - again at no cost to us - all negotiated by TG.... Plus, he continues to meet with all patrons of the club and is warm and engaging when you meet him. Have you, Bambi?
But hey, a pic at 3pm of a few Gas outside, which happened intermittently historically, and Mintbet......there you go, you make your own mind up.

Why not start with the farce of getting that big screen installed and operational and ask why we ended up with perimeter advertising. Sometimes things aren't quite what they seem. |

Don't think that was TG fault. Supply problem as I understand it.
But as you mention it, how much did it cost us because we were let down for the big screen so had perimeter advertisement erected (which I forgot to mention) ?
(Screen was installed because of supporters poll and acted on because the big screen was overwhelmingly voted top of wants, in a poll thought of, arranged and organised by.....?.....yep, TG!)
