GC states our players are keen to play again after our enforced break. The loss of JCH will be significant but opportunity for Tom N, Smith & Victor to step in and score the goals. Will Ollie Clarke be re instated or will he have to make do with a sub appearance. Guess the Dutch keeper Van Goalstopper is in side as the Fin on International duty ? MK arrive with four successive league defeats and some major injury problems. Expecting a 2-0 home win.

How’s the pitch looking. Bradley Stoke, almondsbury and Gypsy Patch Lane flooded yesterday and it’s hardly been dry since!

Should really have got a couple more goals to well and truly kill the gam, but a professional job against a poor MK team

Looks like the goals for column will hold us back yet again. Wael get your check book out you tight ****. Harris can't do it on his own. Smith is the only forward worth mentioning sercombe is sat in the waiting room waiting to be pushed forward.

4th!! Just brilliant but it's the years of under achievement and low expectations that make me feel like we're interlopers at a party for which weve not been invited. Sooner or later were going to be caught and thrown out. Gasheads... ever the optimists aye?

apart from 3 teams Ipswich + 18 Peterborough +13 and Oxford +10 the next "most i" is +8 + 6 and + 3 hardly a great difference at this stage of the game and not a real significance, Ipswich , expected to romp away with this league[won by easter!!] and the rest chasing their tails

Just got back!
Interesting day..... clubhouse busy early doors, there's presentation ceremony for monies created.....well done JK for that particular part of organising.
I just caught GC comments and amongst some interesting points, apparently our keeps hung up his top in dressing room saying it didn't need cleaning! Legend!
Elements of truth, methinks.
Okies.... plenty of swill on board, I really enjoyed this one. We were defensively very organised at the back and in mid, which put out a dysfunctional MKD......I hold no love for the club that stole their way through the league, but I have a begrudging respect for Tis and some of his acquisitions.....ha! None of them turned up today.
Said before, we are wearing 1989/90 shirts this season....we are playing not exactly the same but in the same spirit. TEAM.
Whether you warm to GC, mourn DC, in between or somewhere else, you have to pay respect that we look defensively solid, work hard in midfield, are strong in challenges all over the pitch and have pace in Tyler and Luke. This is GC, he's creative in his approach and stubborn in its execution and atm it is working. Only thing is, it's not easy on the eye at times, but so so so very effective.
Tom Davies, captain in waiting m o m today with such a delightful finish. He should have scored immediately before, but for a fantastic back post save from a Nichols that was worth his place.....that was immediately after another fantastic save from a Sercombe shot heading for the postage stamp.... amazing save! He was probably m o m.
Talking of postage stamps, can't we pop one on TN and send him to anywhere but here? Kin useless again. He was subbed after sauntering towards the keeper eye on the ball looking good hair not out of place - f that, get your head down and challenge for it and chase it down instead of trying to look nice(?) He's a liability and should be dropped. Some nice touches, some nice coming deep for balls, but no end product, no passing of worth, no linking up with strike partner, no shot or headers on target (and he had chances of both, unmarked in box). Get fuc£ing rid!
Anyways. We pushed them in mid and sent them into disarray first half. At one point, they had a back 7 in line trying to counter attack, but we just kept possession. Upson, Abu and Sercombe with help from Luke and Rodders (playing at right back in second half mostly as we reverted to 4 temporarily) were formidable. Abu energy and brilliant tackling ran Davies close m o m.
Tyler ran his heart out and created a couple of chances for himself. He really needs some help up there but I saw him as defacto lone striker. I like how he's looking to get behind the defence, must be a nightmare for opposition defenders because one killer pass and he's through.....
We should be confident moving into games. Certainly on pitch, but it doesn't seem to be reflected with atmosphere off it. Maybe just me but think atmosphere very flat apart from last 15 mins....why? We are 4th (3rd at one point) in table on merit, not from lucky wins or playing bottom based club's. We have fantastic home record. We have nominated manager of month and winner of player of month for our division and alot to look forward to.
Also off the pitch, money has been raised for Gas Girls and Young Pirates, restaurant and corporate near sold out and bring a friend initiative appeared a success.....the Gas win at home, what's not to like?

Should really have got a couple more goals to well and truly kill the gam, but a professional job against a poor MK team Would have scored more with our regular centre forward. Kept crossing the ball high to Smith with Nichols stood around, 10 yards out of position, watching. Forget Nichols, total fraud of a player, lazy, lightweight, pointless bloke, him aside, it was a solid team performance. More than 1 of Franchise FC players will know that they were up against Ogogo today, they'll have bumps and bruises to prove it. Usual comedy referee. How is blocking our keeper when he's trying to clear the ball to Smith, who is on the shoulder of the only defender they have left on the half way line, not a booking? That Mr Backhouse is why you and your moobs are refereeing in the 3rd division and won't ever get any higher.

In the first half, Smith ran at their defence, Nichols job now is to run in to space and take at least 1 defender with him, he literally stood still, 3 defenders closed Smith down and the chance was gone. As you say, liability. I've never once seen him go at full pace closing an opponent down and then just leaving enough on the bloke so that he doesn't give away a foul but the other guy knows what's coming next time, you know, like every other player you've ever seen does. Why does he keep getting picked?

Oh look, a "Tommy Nichols is crap" thread. We won somehow. Tom never had a chance apart from the one he put wide. Clarke Harris misses too as does Smith.
We are 4th and I have no idea how, as the football is dreadful. This will go wrong soon.
My apologies for being uncharitable as am normally positive, but I personally find nothing this manager does to make me feel we're going anywhere.
Um..UTG.

The really odd thing about Nichols is that, for some reason, everybody, myself included, seems to stick with him and at the start of every game we hope that he'll get some fire in his belly and get stuck right in. Sadly, I think we're going to have to wait until the last few weeks of his contract to see this happen. Best that we send him off to Bath or anywhere that will take him and give the shirt to a player prepared to get hurt for the cause.

GC will know he's got it right (again) when he sees that Bambie and Faustie think he got it wrong (again).

GC will know he's got it right (again) when he sees that Bambie and Faustie think he got it wrong (again). Hey, I think we looked solid and hard to beat, even with 10 men. The midfield is what was previously wrong, we seem to have that sorted, including changing formation at least twice during today's game. It's horribly stodgy to watch, but as long as we keep putting it performances like that, I'm more than happy. But to give you something to criticise me for, even though we won, it was stupid, on 18 minutes, to swap Smith and Nichols over, all it did was give their right side defenders a breather and expose Smith to their left flank who hadn't broken into a trot yet dealing with Nichols. I would have stuck Smith Lewington from the start, he must be at least 35 now, and run the legs off of him in the first half hour. But we left Smith on him for maybe 10 mins and then swapped back. Don't get it?

TN had another easy in comparison chance with a free header in second half that went over.... Upson the provider with a sublime dinky cross that bisected their two lumber some centre backs. It isn't an anti anything thread, it's (again) seeing things as I see it.....did you see TN differently? I did say nice touches, coming deep (ooooer Madam) but the difference is Tyler and JCH will score more than one league goal a season... It was a team performance I wanted to emphasise, we won because everyone played a part. Some played more than others..

Tyler Smith is everything Nichols isn’t, how the hell did Nichols completely miss the target about 20 minutes in?. He was snivelling to get off from the middle of the second half. I’m sick and tired of the fraud, I am also sick and tired of the bickering between those that feel sorry for him and those that are sick of him. GC must be under instruction to play him to justify the transfer fee robbery and his wages. Fantastic performance from the team and fans today.
