Does anybody know what the f happened to the signing of Liam scales. No sarcasm please. Perhaps a comment or two from the club would be good. Or is it still top secret.

Why would the club make a public comment about a player who isn't ours?

He is still at his club, which is suprising. I thought he would be in Man City's first team by now

He/his club wanted too much money, we wanted him on the cheap (according to them).... He hasn't moved apparently.

Played in UCD's 5-0 defeat to Dundalk on Thursday. Shouldn't be a problem. Our 2nd choice keeper played in plenty of heavy defeats last season.

Perhaps Scales was rejected on the basis that he hasn't previously played for Coventry and isn't related to TW?

Neither had anssi jaakola, josh hare, mark little, tyler smith, jordi van stappershoef, luke leahy or victor adeboyejo played for coventry. Regarding the 3 coventry lads i would argue they have been decent signings so far, without clarke-harris we would very likely have been relegated imo.

Clarke-Harris was luck - there was nothing in his career to suggest that he would have the impact he has had. Agogo will find his standard when we are mid-table in league two while Davies has only played a few times. I recall that TW's justification for signing them was that Coventry finished above us (for one season!), which is frankly insulting. The rest of the names that you mention are like-for-like, shot-in-the dark loans or free agents picked up to plug a gap. No sign of a transfer strategy at all - that is the point I was making.

So when coughlan/widdrington signed clarke-harris because they believed he had the potential to do well at rovers they were lucky? When we signed ogogo we needed to get out of relegation trouble so a mid-table standard midfield player made perfect sense after all the best we have ever been since 1999 is mid-table and then only 4 times in nearly 20 years! Regarding transfer strategy we needed 2 goalkeepers and we needed a centre-back to replace lockyer. With the full backs coughlan clearly wants the teams width to come from the full backs and signing little, hare and leahy reflect that. We also needed strikers and he brought 2 in. Clearly there is a transfer strategy although its unclear right now how many of the signings are what we need.

Just think it's a real shame. We are lacking in midfield and out wide. As identified by the manager and most supporters. The funds haven't been made available by the current owners to rectify this situation. Or players haven't been willing to come to the gas. Think I know which one is true. It's therefore another season or trying to punch above our weight.

Or trying to cope as best we can like southend, shrewsbury, wycombe, tranmere, wimbledon, blackpool, burton, rochdale, gillingham, accrington and bolton? Maybe some others as well.
