Good spot Chewie. The other forum should go into total overdrive/meltdown this evening. Much calmer/resigned on here I would expect.

Wael has said he'd sell to the right buyer for the club if they came along. Nothing new there about his intentions yet you'd think the opposite the way people are reacting.

Please be true. So Dwane Sports have wanted out for some considerable time? Gracious, who would have thought it? No sh*t Sherlock.

So the Al-Qadi's plan does seem like it was entirely hinged on the UWE deal, which they found to be flawed, from their perspective. The ease at which selling the club is appearing to come to them, after the failure of the UWE deal, suggests there never really was a plan B.
The best legacy that the Wael could leave the club, is by ensuring that a repeat of his story but with different names, doesn't happen this time around.
Time to strap ourselves in for another club sale & stadium-build roller-coaster!

'the current board has had no input in the new vision for the club',so why mention the Fruit market site to the World last Saturday ? surely that isn't going to help matters.

Maybe. I am surprised we are writing as if it is done. Nobody seems to have any idea who it is, even. Were there not consortia stories under Higgs? I hope this is a real one, not another story.

From the article:
"Although the identity of the individuals within the consortium is not yet known, it contains experts who possess experience in major inner-city developments"
Could Higgs be making a comeback?

They have saddled the club with record debt and totally f****d us over. All these rose tinters must be choking on their tea. I cannot wait until Dwayne Sports Leave. b'stards.

Sigh. Here we go again!
Yet more uncertainty about potential new owners, and a new stadium scheme.
Things are never simple at Bristol Rovers!

It seems like the only thing we know for certain that we didn't previously is that the AQ's have been actively trying to sell the club, which while obvious to many anyway does at least mean that there's no real pretence that they are in this to move the club forward anymore. Just makes it even more important that they get rid ASAP really because the longer it goes on the more debt ridden and less attractive we become as I understand it.
I said it the time the AQ's bought us that cautious skepticism is really the only way to be once it becomes clear that your club has become nothing but an asset to be passed around between the international superrich. You just hope they are a)well meaning and b)competent. But there's never any guarantee that your interest as a fan and theirs as owners will forever be aligned even if they are initially seen as saviours. So far I think the AQ's have been OK as this sort of thing goes but they need to pull off a good sale to finish in credit overall and justify their own promises.
Bristol Post in bit of proper Journalism shock....I wonder how long they've been sitting on this. That might also explain the timing of Wael's announcement of the Fruit Market Site - it was coming out anyway so they might as well claim some kind of credit for it I guess.

We get the only investors from the Middle East that actually don't have spare cash for their vision (toy). Who wants to be like Man City anyway, nice stadium, training, top level, community support etc?

You want the bloke who led us to within a few days of bankruptcy to come back? That’s one screwed up way of being a supporter.

I'm no Higgs supporter father. But at point of sale to Dwane Sports BRFC had around £6mil of debt (most of it external, not good) - but the asset value of the Memorial Stadium would have been conservatively around £15mil - £18mil. So I'm not sure where you get the idea of bankruptcy from. Cash flow issues - Yes. Bankruptcy - No. We are far nearer technical bankruptcy now because debt (internal, but still debt) is roughly equivalent to the asset value of the Memorial Stadium. To confirm - I do NOT want Mr Higgs anywhere near the Boardroom again.

Here we go again I really had hoped that Wael and his family had brought an end to this crap. If there are potential investors it’s about time they fronted up and brought forward their plans for us, the people that have spent decades choking on s***e, to be reassured as to their credentials. We are prime candidates to attract the attention of asset stripping arseholes of the ilk that destroyed Hereford United, those creeps and the only reason Hereford FC retained Edgar Street was that the council owned the asset and refused to sell the leases to the crooks having established they were trying to blag their way in. The Land the Mem stands on must be worth a tidy sum. in any event once again the club seems to be heading into another period of turmoil.

The 'good' news steptoe, is that we can't be asset stripped... due to the fact that Dwane Sports have spent all the equity that there was in the Memorial Stadium. Hail Dwane Sports! We are now safe from asset-strippers! Right - my 300 mile round trip to watch the Gas is about to start. Toodle pip.
