Just for reference here is the Fruit market and here is the fruit market with the reebok stadium dumped on top. This is good to know, can we just buy it off of them and pop it on a flatbed?

Just for reference here is the Fruit market Mint! We've only got to build one stand. Looking a bit like the Kassam, at the moment, just a bit narrower.

I would love this to happen but after decades of smoke, mirrors and disappointment my excitement gauge is not even flickering at this stage. What's the odds on Pantsdown putting a bid on the land if only to scupper this before it starts.

That will be fine, Coughlan doesn't like utilising width anyway. All we have to do is pack the tent up, transport it and put it up again and we have ourselves a football stadium.

If you are driving to a match at fruit market stadium where are you going to park? It’s chaff. To distract from the manager had no money to spend and the team look like relegation fodder. I think wael might have gone rogue on this nothing on official site there was supposed to be an announcement about 3 weeks ago but was pulled at the last minute something has to be announced tomorrow or he’s going to look rather stupid my understanding was he wasn’t even involved with this

Gives some humorous distraction whilst our keeper is picking the ball out of the back of the net I guess.

We can save on build costs too.
When the Fruit Market was built (late 60s / early 70s?) there was a huge surplus of white bricks left over - as if an error had been made in the order. The bricks were chucked in a hole, filling it in, and covered over to became what is now the car park.
If we dig up the car park we'll find thousands of white bricks we can use, and will just have to paint half of them blue.

It's on the BBC R Bristol website for yesterdays pre-match 20man show, Weal's interview starts at around 10/15 mins, but he doesn't give a lot away investment wise, although the suggestions on the other forum are it's a consortium but Wael & MS are staying on.

This all seems very strange to me. If you really did intend to build a new stadium you would hold a press conference showing all of your pretty pictures of it along with a q&a session with all of the experts involved with the project. The city council would certainly want to comment on the plans in front of them.
The rumours were that a new consortium had come up with this idea so has Wael adopted it and going it alone?
Oh well, it will keep some happy for a couple of years I guess.

Site will be used for houses/flats/apartments. It's all BCC is interested in. I think that seems to be the conclusion most have talked about. I drive past there every Monday, coming back from car auctions. Have talked to several people who are involved in land purchase and they are or have been looking at that possibility. 2 have the money to buy yet they are probably the tightest buggers I know lol

Oh well, it will keep some happy for a couple of years I guess. It's all utter nonsense and beer talk. Consortium sounds grand, but let me ask you this, if these shadowy figures were capable of dealing with purchasing the club, disposing of the existing site and them building a stadium, would they allow Wael to steal their idea at the very first hurdle? If that's the calibre of people who formed a pipe dream about owning the club and building a stadium, we are better off without them.

I used to live there the club are taking the piss. There is no way it will happen for too many reasons to mention. You used to live in the Fruit Market?
I think the point Dr Dee was making with the Reebok comparison is that the site is comparabl small to put a big stadium on. I am assuming (if we're giving this any real credibility at all and there's every reason not to) that Wael and co would only be interested if they could make money out of other ventures on the site - hotel, conference centre, supermarket etc. If that's the case we could be looking at quite a small stadium not the 20k+ we all assume is needed.

Think I saw it on twitter but can’t be arsed it look. When people say the right side of the river, I have always thought that, once you go over the netham, it’s 82 territory. Would be a swine to get to & Park if coming by car. There are still a fair few active businesses on the road leading up to it. Could it be that this was WAQ’s way of leaving, with his head high or still staying ?

Hey great, let's all chat again about something we don't own, have or can see.. We spend so much time in dreamland or speculation.
I'm not criticising, just observing.
But, I think it drives some nuts.
The fruit and nut stadium.

Perfect for me mate got a railway station at the bottom of my garden 25 mins to temple meads surely this is in the “dings” a rovers stronghold before the Germans tried to destroy it we will see but boys of our age running out of time now although it would be great seeing all the old tote end boys having a knees up in motion

However, it’s worth remembering that when BCC/Rovers/City did a study of sites, for a potential joint stadium within the city boundary around 15-20 years ago, the fruit market was one of the places examined. It was eventually decided that none of the sites could be progressed on a reasonable timescale and the clubs decided to go their own ways. Things have changed since then.
