Yes we had some half decent technology then. Every nation could fire rockets but where they ended up was anybody's guess. Firing rockets with men inside and landing somewhere with the men still in one piece was never an option back then. As I said before if India and China two of the richest countries in the world can't be asked or are unable to achieve this then something doesn't add up. All the experts say on the BBC etc the reason we haven't landed men on the moon again is due to financial restrictions. India and China don't have any restrictions they just abuse their own to keep their coffers full. Okay, so using your logic … 50 years on from Concorde, how many supersonic passenger airliners have we had? - perhaps Concorde never happened. 50 years on from the Harrier and Pegasus engine, how many vertical take-off and landing jets have we had? - perhaps the Harrier Jump Jet never happened.

Oh well Kegs, that's me convinced.
If it's been said on the BBC then the debate's over.
Anyway, nobody has ever fully explained how the moon works. Sometimes it's one size, sometimes another, it moves all over the sky. None of it makes any sense at all.

Issac Newton gave us all we needed to know to work out the flight path from Earth orbit to moon orbit. The German scientists gave us the means, very clever people perfected it, brave men achieved it.

George Bush did the moon landing on the grassy knoll with the help of the South Yorkshire Police department and their steel beams.

Yes, and that never happened … well, at least one of the goals didn't.

Looks like India couldn't quite hack an unmanned moon landing then. I thought we were walking about on the **** over 50 years ago. Perhaps there is hope for the gas after all !

Great thread. Missed it first time round. Do you know the moon rotates on its axis every 27.3 days so you’re always looking st the same side of it?
They’ll land on the moon eventually. These things take time.

I still don't understand why it is that Louis Armstrong did the first moon walk but Michael Jackson gets the credit.

I am sure if it hadn't happened then one of the other nations ie Russia would have proved it hadn't happened by now.
