Welcome Jordi
From BRFC website
The club is delighted to announce the signing of Dutch goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef.
The deal will officially go through on July 1st and will be subject to EFL approval and the club receiving international clearance.
The 23-year-old, who was born in Amsterdam, played in the second tier in Holland last season, plying his trade for FC Volendam in the Eerste Divisie.
Jordi arrived at the Mem for his medical earlier today and managed to get familiar with his new surroundings ahead of returning for pre-season training.
The towering goalkeeper, who is 6ft 6', is the third new face to sign for the club this week, following the arrivals of Tom Davies and Josh Hare.Speaking about the addition of the goalkeeper to his playing squad, Manager Graham Coughlan said, “Jordi is player that we identified last season and we are glad that we’ve managed to get the deal over the line ahead of the start of pre-season." "Our Head of Recruitment, Tommy Widdrington, has travelled to watch Jordi in action on a number of occasions and he's a player that we have done our homework on. "It's another foundation in place for the new season and I would like to welcome Jordi to Bristol Rovers F.C."

I doubt that too many will be chanting his name from the terraces, but nevertheless welcome to the Pirates Jordi.

Giant presence between the sticks, hope he's agile enough to keep low drives out. Been crying out for a big commanding keeper for a while now, could be a good signing!

Good luck to our second Amsterdam born keeper to join Rovers. Who remembers Michel Kuipers who joined Rovers in January 1999. Former Dutch marine Kuipers managed just one league appearance for Rovers in a dodgy display at Bournemouth in March 199 where his goal kicking was seriously questioned by those who saw the match. He was beaten by a shot from Eddie Howe current Cherries boss in a 1-0 defeat. After leaving Rovers 16 months later he established himself as number one and a firm favourite between the sticks of Brighton & Hove Albion making over 250 appearances for the Seagulls.

BIg up to GC some sublime recruitment ( I loved DC best manager we ever had but his eye for new blood was not so good ) With the mighty JVS in goal (great video ) two new defenders ( both well regarded) and holding on to the awesome JCH up front ! am already starting to feel good about us challenging at the right end of the table next season. For the last few years all that mattered was a new ground if we could do on the pitch then this time next year we could be looking forward to a couple of local derbies - I take that any time - the ground can wait , playing city can't! UTG

UTG "sublime recruitment"? Based on what? Two players released by league one clubs and two unknown players. They might be good for us but they might not surely?

UTG I like the optimism, let's hope the new signings gel quickly and perform as hoped. Not sure how far off we are from the next Bristol derby but it's important to keep our heads and build a cohesive squad to challenge top half and play-offs in the next season or 2. Recruitment looks tidy so far, let's see what else GC has up his sleeve!

Width, pace and creativity required in midfield and another striker required... but good start from GC IMHO.

Maybe it's literally sublime recruitment. Little know fact that Harry seems to have missed there - Jordi grew up as an Angel.
I think what's interesting is how much the management team seem to be congratulating themselves over this target. That's not always the case - they are emphasising the effort they put into getting him 'in the building'. Suggests that they see this as a bit of a coup at least.

Wonder if he has been signed as the no 1 keeper?
