Maybe a good start would have been Taylor not leaving for the absolute minimum amount possible, just before the window closed so that we had no money and no time to replace him. Obviously you think that's reasonable behaviour, I don't, we'll never convince each other, that's fair enough, it's cool to agree to disagree, so I'll leave it there and let anybody else reading this decide which version they have more respect for, mine or yours. So did you consider Chris Lines to be a "turncoat" when he left us for Sheff Wed? That wasn’t his choice. The chairman did the deal behind his back and told him that if he didn’t leave then he would never kick a ball for a Bristol Rovers again.

It's not only me who has the arse with Taylor, but from your comments you seem happy with Taylor's conduct. That says more about you than me. See you soon when you try, and fail again to make some kind of point.Beneath you, Bambi. 1. Crates asked you a question. 2. You didn't answer it. 3. Thus Crates's point is made. 4. You didn't make a point. Don't get me wrong. I like sneering Bambie. I enjoy supercilious Bambie. I love cantankerous Bambie. But you're in danger of making a pointless caricature of yourself here. I disagree with Crates's implication, though. Taylor left in disgrace because of the dishonest way in which he cooked up a minimum release fee with Lansdowne to shaft our season's chances, with contempt for Rovers supporters. Lines, I presume, returned to us to be back home in Bristol. I don't suppose he came to Conference Rovers for the money. Therefore Lines retains class and respect Taylor doesn't. Cheer up, Bambie. The thing is my Duckbilled friend, Crater has no interest in dialogue or any kind of banter, or even teasing. His/her posts towards me look very much like weak attempts at sniping and points scoring, always in the hope that I'll say something that will leave an open goal for a 'Gotcha' reply. The James O'Brien of this forum maybe? The answers, if Crater actually wanted them, are contained in my previous posts on the subject. I'm perfectly happy, but would be happier if Crater would lay down a bit of a challenge and we could have a proper dust up

I was aware of that but didn't know if it was for public consumption. Poor old Crater is going to have to find something else to try to start an argument about. Come on Crates, what ya got?

Please explain as attention to detail is eveything. For the record I had no beef with Linesy moving elsewhere as in all likelihood he trebled his salary and went to play for one of English footballs big named clubs. He remained a fan throughout and I recall having a brief chat with him at the away Rotherham match at The Don Valley. His passion and love for the club has never been in doubt and as it seems likely his Rovers career is reaching the end I'll warmly shake his hand the next time I see him and wish him well. I had plenty of beef with Taylor leaving...his destination and the timing being my main objections. It seems I may have got under your skin somewhat Bamber...lets be friends and wear our hats at a jaunty angle...though if you do ever want that dust up I'll be happy to oblige

So, now that we know it's cool to discuss openly the circumstances surrounding Chris leaving, you have your answer, Chris wasn't a turncoat at all, and we agree that Matty Taylor didn't exactly cover himself in glory with the way he managed his departure, so Turncoat would be one of the kinder words that could be used, I think we've found common ground? jusqu'à la prochaine fois

I apologise for introducing Taylor into a thread that should be about congratulating Chris for his achievements and thanking him for everything he's done for us. Sorry about that.

Someone was saying that Lindsay Parsons was the type of player you noticed more in his absence. I feel a bit the same about Linesey at the moment - we're really missing what he could bring

Always better to leave by the front door then slither away from the back. That said I can't help but think where a front 2 of JCH and snakey would take us

That said I can't help but think where a front 2 of JCH and snakey would take us If we had Taylor we wouldn't have been in the market for JCH and we would still have the last manager I reckon. We move on, JCH can carry a team by himself and doesn't need many chances to score, Taylor's conversion ratio was always poor, so on present form I would take what we have. Can you imagine JCH in the 5th tier? It would be a bloodbath! I seriously think he could end a season with 50 goals. Anyway, back to Chris. Not sure what my favourite memory will be, probably between having the balls to step up and bury the first penalty at Wembley and the goal against Cardiff.

Looks like Padstow is taking complete claptrap again... I was told that on Saturday by a long serving member of the staff, why he/she would say that I don't know but I believed what I was told and reported it verbatim,if it was untrue then I can only assume they had an ulterior motive for saying it,but I will not repeat anything else I hear from that particular person, although in the past whatever he/she told me turned out to be true.

Sh*t.
I have already informed the Bishopston CC Chairman that he maybe free to pursue his cricket career this season.
Lines is class. He plays through the V.
