Quality battling win that. Could’ve been 3/4 with a bit more composure in front of goal. Thought they were a poor outfit & any late equaliser would’ve been a sickener. Quite agree. I thought Scunthorpe were abysmal. If Ollie in particular had been sharper we'd have put three in at least. For a while in the second half they were wide open at the back.

Are Scunthorpe now a bogey team?
When does a bogey team get de-bogeyed?

Every team rovers beat are abysmal. We know that because every time we ever win a poster tells us that. If we beat man city it would only be because they were abysmal.

I just read through all the posts and none of them said we beat Scunthorpe "only because" they were abysmal. Can you clarify where you read that?

What I should have made clear was that it was the good stuff we did that made them look abysmal.

We need to win one at least and draw one to keep up over the next three. Two wins and a loss would do me. 😁⚽️ I was unable to go V Blackpool but prior to that, the football played has been amongst the worst of any of the post nearly seasons, that I’ve ever seen. Do you think there has been real change in attitude & applications then ? It is strange how the same group of players (with the addition of JCH and Ogogo) seem to be playing better and putting in more work under GC. So in answer to your question, it appears so, though the Sunderland league game at home was very poor.

It's simply because there's a bloke up top who knows where the net is and they know their work isn't in vain. Playing pretty tip-tap football to no avail must be soul destroying for any team. His goal wasn't spectacular but the way he trapped the ball, turned slightly to his left and put it away had shades of Rickie about it. That is what we've been missing. Not only that, he gets stuck in and wins the ball, and hardly misses a header to a teammate. I don't recall one bobbing off the top of his head to no-one in particular yet. And he helps in defence. I thought Kelly played well yesterday but Clarke looked wobbly at times. Can't understand why people queried the decision to keep Upson on. He may have been on a yellow but was the spider in the midfield web that kept it all purring and allowed Agogo to focus more on his task.

Besides the misunderstanding with James Clarke first half when a break was on down the right, I thought Upson was superb yesterday.
