Don't recall saying anything about emulating Accrington? Personally though I think there's much to admire about them and how they punch way above their weight on the attendances they get. They have a dump of a ground? Been to the Mem lately? I could go on but I won't. Back to the OP I'm slightly sad to see Keith Hill or Hilly as Darrell called him get the sack...I'm sure he'll get a job very soon...he's one of those guys you never hear a bad word said about and is very well respected in the game. So you don't actually have a point, again. Whatever makes you happy. Point being that you are talking complete bo11ocks yet again by referring to Accrington as a joke club.

In the case of Rochdale their problem is competition within the area. Ie. Because they are the smallest club considered to be offering the lowest wages players will often leave for fairly small wage increases. But Rochdale aren't rubbish - they punch massively above their weight. It's pretty impressive that they've managed to play most of the last decade at this level in the first place. Same goes for Bury - their fans laughably consider their natural level to be the 3rd tier despite registering crowds that would be pretty average in the Conference. Yet they've been able to attract players of the pedigree of James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford (who admittedly hasn't been that great for them) and despite being one of those clubs constantly under threat of bankruptcy always seem to find another backer willing to come in and spend on the team.
I've spoken to a couple of jobbing lower league pros up here and asked them exactly that question - and their response is always that they'll only move to a club in another part of the country if they have to or if the money and terms are significantly better (rather than just a little bit better). So I do think there's something in it - probably not as much as some managers of both City and Rovers have made out in the past (I mean it's obviously a convenient excuse - I can imagine there are worst places to attract people to move to than Bristol) but footballers are ultimately like anyone else. If you have an offer of a job for similar money/status from a company up the road from where you've lived most of your life and are well networked professionally or a company halfway across the country in a place you have no other connections in then why would you move? I can see how that might have led us to add an extra year to a contract or top up a wage offer over the years -you have to think that agents are going to leverage that at least. I think it's nonsense to blame Rovers poor recruitment on this - ultimately that's about decent planning and strategy - but I do think it can be a factor in negotiations.
Mate, I'm not wading through that. Find a way of saying it in a reasonable length post please.Bloody hell really? It took me 35 seconds to read it(sadly I timed it)

I like KH. I also like Coley at Accy.
Much like us, some personnel and staff (including players and managers) just seem to click and fit the fabric of their club. Of course, it does work the other way round too.
What it gives is a mutual blinding loyalty, sometimes to the detriment of progression of the club, against a stronger emotional bond with supporters and board alike, we had this with DC.....it appears not many are lamenting DCs departure these days. So it can work.
As with everything, there is a sell by date and a use by date. KH has finally expired. This time. But who knows Rochdale's recycling policy in the coming years and seasons...?

Ah, I see how this works now, anyone who doesn't agree with your world view is talking bollocks. This is a sad day, I have to hand over my crown of most unreasonable person on the forum to you. Will try to up my game.

Just because you live on this forum your views can be challenged and you are not immune from criticism. Hope that's ok precious

However I think it is 'better' to polite rude, than just plain rude. As you were to Irish above. (IMHO of course).

There's always going to be undulation by teams, some currently playing way above their "natural level", some way bellow. For every Accrington, there is a Stockport. That's the very nature of the promotion/relegation system. Accrington in my opinion are the perfect storm, the perfect manager, at the perfect club, at the perfect time. I wouldn't say Accrington are something to aim for, but we can certainly learn from how they've managed to stretch every penny as far as they have.
Unfortunately the way football has become, new money clubs will always push historically placed clubs out of the way, however at every level we've always had teams undulate above their level and fall back again. It's just harder for clubs to do it at the top end without doping.

There's nothing wrong with asking for points to be made in a concise way, they are normally better for it, and Irish does seem to pen posts considerably longer than anybody else.

On the other point - really couldn't care less either way. Happy to admit to being guilty as charged on writing overlong posts as prefer to think and write at the same time when posting on here and like to try and move discussion into other areas so you get not particularly well edited stream of consciousness sometimes that some people won't like or be arsed with. But number of likes and responses to other posts suggests others do. Not bothered about being asked to summarise if asked by a person I was directly replying to, that seems fair enough - I think it would have been rude otherwise. It's only a bloody internet forum at the end of the day.

Fair play you've kept the word County Down.
