As a lot of you will probably know we still have to play a lot of the top sides:
Portsmouth (Away) Tuesday 19th February Sunderland (Home) Saturday 23rd February Blackpool (Home) Saturday 2nd March Charlton (Home) Saturday 16th March Doncaster (Away) Tuesday 26th March Luton (Home) Saturday 30th March Barnsley (Home) Saturday 4th May
Are we doomed to League 2 or will we take the fight to these teams and grind out some results?

8 points cover 11 teams from 23rd to 13th.
Who knows what the target is.
Just a case of picking up as many points as possible.
Each game a new project.
Let's not worry about others
It's 11 v 11.

My predictions - 15 games to go. Portsmouth A 0 Sunderland H 1 Blackpool H 3 Scunthorpe A 1 Gillingham A 0 Charlton H 0 Plymouth A 1 Doncaster A 0 Luton H 0 Coventry A 1 Bradford H 3 Wimbledon A 3 Rochdale H 3 Fleetwood A 1 Barnsley H 1 18 points, so 51 in total. Home games against Blackpool, Bradford, Rochdale look critical. Then again they all are. Not a nice run in. Historically 51 should be enough, though I know it's very congested in the bottom half of the table and that might not be enough this season. I predicted 20th before a ball was kicked this season and I'm sticking to it. Stay UTG.

The bottom line is that whoever we play we must improve our home form which has been poor. That will decide whether we stay up or not in my view. We have 7 remaining home games and we must win at least 4, possibly 5, of those games. If we don't do that then it'll be pretty tough to survive.

We have 7 remaining home games and we must win at least 4, possibly 5, of those games. If we don't do that then it'll be pretty tough to survive. I stand by this after last night. Away form has been pretty decent for a few months now - home form (and more worryingly home perfomance) has been poor. Epitomised for me by the worryingly weak and tactically clueless effort against Wycombe and their s**thousery. Sort that out and we stay up relatively comfortably -fail to do so and we go down. These 3 straight home games are absolutely crucial for turning that momentum around I think. I'd take 4 points and a win in the nonsense cup to get us going or 6 points and being knocked out of the nonsense cup. A tough ask but I reckon if we pull it off then we can start to breathe a bit easier but until we start winning at home no amount of excellent away performances are going to pull us away from trouble. Results like Portsmouth should be a very welcome bonus - not what is keeping our head above water.

Maybe not quite what this thread was intended, but.... Shrewsbury tonight showing what's needed - against promotion chasers. Maybe Donny will turn it around. Better had for our sake.

Luton hopefully might have a bad day. But we will have to be 100% better in all the remaining games and have a bit of luck thrown in as well, asking a lot I know, if we don’t win on Saturday it becomes irrelevant

Kill me now.

Couple of reasons for optimism amid all the doom and gloom. 1. Interesting site projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/league-one/They predict Walsall are worse than us and we stay up with 50 points in 20th place. 2. The bookies also reflect this. Relegation odds of Wimbledon 1-12 Rochdale 1-2 Bradford 8-15 Walsall 11-10 The Gas 13-8 Plenty of ups and downs to come... so let's try not to get too euphoric on the highs and too depressed on the lows. UTG.

UTG. Predictions are all well & good but we know just how bad we have been at home. It’s never a good thing when you look to other teams to hope they do worse than us. Personally, I don’t see us getting 50 points but hope, of course, that I’m wrong. We look bloody awful and are void of attacking threat and I genuinely believe we have shot ourselves in the proverbial foot by employing our current manager but I do have to say that too many of our so called better players, are just not stepping up to their potential ability and I am unable to understand why

But some surprisingly good away performances. Could have done without Walsall beating Bradford (just) at the weekend - but their mood appears a lot worse than ours. Example here - upthesaddlers.com/t/relegation-calculator-again/2395. IMHO. Drop the undroppable Ollie Clarke. Try to get the best out of Sercs (or Lines, or even Upson) alongside Ogogo. THD and Rodman on the flanks. Jak and K J-T up front. 20th place on 50 or 51 points. Keep the Faith. Trust me :-)

Trust me :-) The most horrible thing, for me in anycase, is that I really am losing the love of going to games as you can, near as damn it, know what’s going to happen and the style of play. My friend who I go with, he has never left before the final whistle in all the years we have been going but even he is now saying he feels depressed after a game and has now left 3 times before the end. It seems like we could play until Sunday and not score. We seem to be playing very basic football and none of our better players, on paper, seem to be able to stamp their authority onto a game. Not using the channels nor midfield being used, to create openings. I’d like to know why Lines can’t seem to get in the team and what of Leadbitter ? As vaughan posted, we really do have many similarities to the Garry Thompson side. It’s just not enjoyable and is really testing , in whether I want to keep paying to watch such abysmal games. I know I will go but it doesn’t half frustrate me.
