Does any club produce their 'own' players? Gone are the days of a one-player team since most players will have, and want, the experiences of different teams and places. Especially where there are riches involved. I'd argue that having the best coaches to develop almost-ready players whilst giving better first-team opportunities is a better use of funds. Unfortunately.

If Rollin and Kelly make it, there is an argument for picking up late developers released by other academies! Isn't that how we got Llockenbauer from Cardiff as well?

I now try, very hard, not to feel hatred for anyone and because it changes nothing but makes me ill. In his case though, I make an exception as he has shown not just a venomous side but it’s patently obvious he truly wants us gone. The 💩 wouldn’t know what to do if we ceased to exist. I never cease to be further shocked by their obsession with us & even when they are doing well. I wonder if he understands that he would not get a seachange of support, not from us older lot anyway ? He will, however, continue to have a clear run at the younger support. 💩 fans would do well to understand that this is a fickle man and, having turned coat on us, you just could never be certain of his continued backing. Don't agree, this has become the Mother of all vanity projects. It could be any location, any football club, but he won't stop until it either gets too expensive trying or he achieves his ambition of having a PL football team. Meanwhile, to Wael's shame, in BS7, this appears to be the extent of our owners' ambition; Some things don't change though. 1982 supporters having running fights with Swansea's finest in our City centre yesterday. In fairness we have our own bunch who do the same. My surprise is that the usually brilliant PR team haven’t managed to shift all the blame upon Swansea, as they did with us, when we had to play them last. The entire football watching public could see how they behaved yet it was somehow our lot at fault. Horrible lot and even more shame upon those who acted to place the blame at our fans. I was so lucky that night. Just missed a big glass bottle, that was aimlessly thrown at us. Turns out it was filled with piss too.

I still to this day have no idea how the denizens of otib manage to turn a blind eye to the fact that THEY were the ones on the bloody pitch throwing missiles at us and yet WE are the animals even though we were trapped in the away end. It was all kicked off by that Sideshow Bob lookalike idiot running on to the pitch not once but THREE times. Why wasn't he ejected from the stadium? Soft on trouble and soft on the causes of trouble, that lot. It's not like they weren't warned after all the shenanigans that has gone on previously in that stadium. The whole club needs a metaphorical slap.

Warning....This is hearsay A friend of mine has a son who plays in rovers under 14 academy team. He and his parents have been given notice that all bristol rovers academy operations will cease after the current season is over. I’m pretty sure it’s fairly common knowledge my friend. If you know anyone, who has kids in the youth teams then you would have heard it. Very hard to take as I remember how I felt just getting into the trials. We will lose the interest of the younger generation and it’s very sad to know this So has this been confirmed??? The academy staff were at a training event on Thursday to develope them further and they are holding trials for the under 8's soon. A few people have said, a friend who has a child, has heard. Wael seems to know nothing about it as well. So if he's not been told, who is making the decision???

Why do the same clubs get away with it time after time after time?

If you read the Ashton Gate press release they've basically said it was all Swansea and just a couple of teds got sucked into it in response. They clearly have a problem with admitting they have a problem. As you say, we have plenty of idiots, but at least you feel like A&S and the club come out and try and get on top of it when it happens. Things seem to just continue with impunity down at the s***pit every time.

This is not just our club. It is happening all over the league due to the FA's latest rules whereby you can bring a kid up from 8 years old to 16 and then a Prem club can take them for free. As a result most smaller clubs like ours will start developing kids from 16. Up until that point the younger ones will play for appropriate local clubs, then if they look promising they will get picked up at 16. Nothing to do about money; or the board, it is what is happening in football league generally. Thanks to all you Sky watchers

It's not even happening at our club. It's a rumour that someone started. I have been told that the academy will be running next season like normal. Think who ever started this post, should name the parent who told them.

It's odd, people make a fuss about a competition where PL clubs enter their reserves, but nobody seems that worried that TV money has killed development of British talent. Football has gone totally bonkers, I've lost count of how much Lansdown has lost so far just to own a 2nd division club. Before TV money, he would have bought the League title with the sums he's chucked at 1982 Ltd.

The Clash were much better.
