Never in the field of desperate last minute transfer dealings have so many deckchairs been moved around to so little effect...... Nonsense. I’m looking forward to getting behind Cocko, Tommy, Oggy and Harris in League two next season. When are new season tickets on sale?

Jonson Scott Clarke-Harris. No, me neither.
Pretty sure I have the right player. Career stats, 214 appearances, 34 goals.
Based on that, the old onion bag should be bulging 3 times in our final 19 games.
Edit.
I take it all back, the Man is a God, scroll forward to 2 minutes. Legend, Hero, I don't possess sufficient superlatives.

But films always look good from previews, even the snooze fest widows looks all action in trailer. I think its time to park the negativity and see how it goes. Oggy and Harris look like the right sort for us, do you know what I mean? When Cocko was quizzed about the not happening training complex, and said just give me a patch of grass - then, as fans we want more from the owners, and sure as an answer to a question its a quite bonkers reply, but when someone answers with such endeavour and honesty, you don’t really want to see them fail do you? A bus pulled up tonight Gasheads to start a new journey, you climbing aboard with me?

Hope so for Tom's sake, he's been busting a gut recently and deserves a break.

The good news is graham coughlan has taken his chance to start building the team he wants. Both permanent signings look decent but of course the proof of the pudding etc.
Clearly we needed to get players out and most rovers fans will be pleased that payne has gone out on loan and some that bennett has. Its hard not to have a niggling feeling these two didnt have a great attitude but with bennett especially i could be being unfair.

Perhaps okay as a gamble signing for the future but we are in the position where we need to pin our hopes on this lad and, at least going by the stats, it doesn't inspire confidence.

Welcome to the club and all that but what is our fixation with Clarke's and Coventry!?
Is Twatola responsible for this influence?

Welcome to the club and all that but what is our fixation with Clarke's and Coventry!? Is Twatola responsible for this influence? You are saying the spotter came from Coventry so the signings, other the family members all come from Coventry? Yes. But. its that bit of extra knowledge that pulls rabbits out of hats. Oggy for example is a quality player in the wrong place at Coventry for game time. Would others interested in him have known that? Harris at the right moment in career to kick on, with the same belief in him we afforded to Bodin, Snake etc. That finish against City, from sheer thought and determination without much on, is top drawer. Was it his left foot? Not much in this universe changes Bambers mind about something as quickly as that. It’s peculiararly tight bottom of league one, and we’ve dropped so many points with flat performances right from start this season. But I am beginning to think if we are made of right stuff not wrong stuff next season we can come straight back. When I express enthusiasm for next season league two season ticket I genuinely mean it. And that’s just worse case scenario. Bon, sercs, locks all still here for run in.

Fine I suppose....I have some sympathy for the 'prepare for next season' perspective given that I think we are more likely to slip away quietly than fight a relegation 'battle'. However, we are also 2 points off safety so I would have liked us to have at least tried to stay up and that required signing at least 1 player with a reasonable goalscoring record. If it's true that we lost out on Mackail Smith to Notts County you really do have to wonder what is going on.
Also surely if we go down we lose Lockyer, Sercombe, possibly Rodman etc.

In a burst of positivity... I think we have signed a mid-field battler with a history of getting cards and fighting on (and off) the pitch. Anyone who goes toe to toe with the Toole gets my vote. Johnson looks like he could batter a few defences. A bit of steel and physicality we've been missing all season. So on balance IMHO, not a bad window. We are still short of a left-sided mid-fielder to cover THD. If Sercs can step up from his thus far disappointing season... I reckon we'll stay up. Just. Predicted 20th place at the start of the season and will stick with that.

PS - the Bookies (ie the weight of money being bet out there) tends to agree with me. Current odds on relegation as follows: Wimbledon 1-7 Gillingham 1-1 Plymouth 1-1 Rochdale 11-8 The Gas 6-4 Bradford 13-8 Oxford & Walsall 3-1

But I do not see it.
By the way I have nothing particularly against the guy we've bought in. In other circumstances it might be a good signing. But to me this looks like the kind of transfer deadline day you'd see if we were sitting 12/13th with a 6-9 point gap to the relegation. Clear out some deadwood - give some youngsters some experience, take a punt on some potential and change up the chemistry a bit with a view to planning for next year. That would be fine in normal circumstances. But what I wanted was a 'red alert, all hands to the pump' deadline day. The kind of one where 7 leave and 6 come in most of whom have experience. Remember the Danny Williams, Aaron Lescott, Bo Henricksen deadline? That's what I wanted. The team I saw against Wycombe last week needed a major operation not cosmetic surgery.

With all respect Irish... with our current owners this is pretty much the best that we could have hoped for. Prior to the JCH signing - the only person celebrating our transfer window was Hani Al-Qadi :-) JCH needs to score goals. Sercs needs to step up. Then we can stay up. Just.

Exactly right! I think those days are gone now though, only Scunthorpe seem to have performed heart surgery on their squad and they did it early suggesting they could afford to pay dollar to prize their targets away without having to wait for the deadline day lottery. But I agree that JCH is exactly the sort of signing you make for the future when your position is secure. On paper he is absolutely not the sort of signing you make when you are in the relegation zone and the strikers you already have are struggling to score goals and don't have any pedigree at this level to suggest that they have done well when played with a target man. So we are gambling that this lad can bring the best out of Jakubiak, Reilly and Nichols when we don't even know what Reilly and Jakubiak's best is. What we have done, essentially, is put lipstick on a pig.

On reflection, DC once famously gestured about (paraphrase) Waitrose, Aldi, Poundland.
Am wondering what's lower than Poundland?

Clarke-harris has played 57 championship games so his pedigree at least is completely different to all the strikers and most of the players in the squad. Hes played over 200 senior games so i would suggest he a player signed for right now,not the future.
