So you youngsters keep telling me but at the end of the day it's about scoring more goals than the opposition quite simple. As the great bill Shankly once said football is a simple game complicated by coaches You sound like that codger in 1990 that told you Bert Tann was better. Great manager nearly got us into top division.can you name any later rovers manager who has done that

Regards Those three seasons (1995, 1998, 2000) were all in the third tier of English football. 1956 and 1959 were in the second tier.
Our last time in the second tier under Francis ended with two seasons finishing 13th and relegation the third season.

My apologies Padstow, memory fading and forgot about the introduction of the Prem. Too much Christmas alcohol. Goes back into doghouse never to return......

Only on this forum could the matchday thread of a superb away win, turn into a barney over a manager no one on here was old enough to even remember.

Coughlan said if anyone else wants the job they're gonna have to fight him for it. That's the spirit, lol

Just seen the goals and can't take anything away from the finishing, brilliant bit of stuff and much needed from all 3.
But.... what the hell are Walsall defenders doing?! Falling over, not marking, no stopping of crosses or shots, ball watching and lethargic. Looking like they have had too much Xmas turkey!??

And reset
I went today.
Took half an hour to get out the car park and deliberately didn't let one of their players cut me up in his flash car. Don't think he was too happy seeing my missus wearing her Rovers scarf..
Anyone know how many we took??
Bonham touched the ball once I think in the 2nd half.
After drawing away to Peterborough I would have been thoroughly pi55ed off to watch Walsall play like that, I saw Wycombe play the same in August. Difference this time is that we were brilliant today. The best we've played this season. Portsmouth is second best.
We started on the front foot. Looked dangerous on either flank. THD is brave, has great touch, has a trick and is very direct. Rodman was excellent again today, wins a lot of headers also.
Note to GC. Tap up Jurgen Klopp's throw-in coach at LFC. Happy to do it myself for a four-pack of Stella if not. We give the ball away too much from our own throw-ins. I've said it before. When it goes out off their player, just hand the ball to their player and say "you have it" to eliminate the middle man..
We have to pick up a minimum of 3 pts from the next 2 games, I'd be happy with 4 but they are both winnable. Both opponents inconsistent.
Bonham rode his luck when the ball bounced off the post onto his knee away from their player. Had little to do otherwise. Brilliant punch from right under his crossbar in the first half. Their goal was lucky.
Kelly and J Clarke were both steady. I can't remember Craig and Lockyer heading so much in one game as Walsall panicked and just lumped it. They looked tidy when they tried to knock it about but they weren't good enough to keep up the tempo on that pitch.
Upson and Ollie were excellent as a pair protecting the back four. Upson's best game IMO.
Reilly played well and Jakubiak played better second half than first. Both pressured their back four and made them pass it bad. Kids' stuff.
The starting 11 won the game and we thoroughly deserved it. Lovely punch-the-air celebration by Coughlan after the game with the fans. It's his to lose I would say.
Our bench again told the story. Strength in depth. Players trying to displace others, competition for places. Who drops out if Sercombe comes in? He must come back in, maybe Reilly? Jakubiak? It's a nice problem to have.
You watch Tom Nicholls clear the stand from 8 yards in the warm up under no pressure and feel his days must be numbered. Are we seeing the last of Bonham also??
Why did Darrell Clarke not see the simplicity of playing players in their proper positions and keeping the same starting 11? Over thinking it. Stubbornness. Create competition in the squad. If someone doesn't think they have to try, they won't.
Give them clear jobs and an expectation and drop them if they don't put in the effort. Simple.
Really enjoyed it at the library. They had the nerve to sing '..can you hear the Bristol sing..??' We laughed and then scored a minute later.
Brilliant.
Oh yeah..we owed them one from the home game
