Following the departure of Darrell Clarke, the Board and the owners are conscious that there has been considerable speculation regarding our future plans for the Club.
In order to provide clarity to supporters, the Board and the owners would like to confirm that our aspirations and intentions for a positive future for the Club remain unchanged. Hard work continues behind the scenes. Whilst it is not possible to share all details due to confidentiality arrangements, we wish to put on record our extreme disappointment that another development site that the Club have been pursuing is no longer under consideration. Many months of effort, and not inconsiderable cost, have been put into this possibility of a new stadium and training ground development but we have now been left with no option but to explore and identify alternative solutions.
The Board and the owners want the very best for Bristol Rovers FC. Supporters will of course be informed as soon there are important developments to share. In the meantime, we send our very best wishes to you for a happy and peaceful holiday season.

Were they waiting for a win before announcing it?
Was it the hangars at Filton?
Is it why the Colony is untouched?
Did DC know?
Was this in the works when UWE fell over?
Was this part of the £25m takeover plot - I reckon it was?
Is this what Knowall was on about?
Speculation please......

Even if this statement is true, the brutal reality is that they have failed to progress this and we continue to have no firm plans for a stadium of note going forward yet again. Got zero confidence in anything ever happening under their tenure and frankly find it very hard to believe the statement anyway. How cynical I have become.

If discussions on what ever plans have fallen through then why can’t they say what and where they were without getting into the nitty gritty of why it failed. The constant hiding behind “confidentiality clauses” is an easy opt out of saying anything but this just breeds more mistrust in the owners and their motives. If they are going to communicate with us, then at least give something tangible, rather than cryptic messages. Do any of us believe them anyway given their record and SH saying things that are totally different to what this statement says I.e. the Colony has been stalled due to cost. Well if this supposed joint stadium and training facility has fallen through, why no addition to the statement that the Colony will now proceed? Perhaps they have no intention of doing anything and this is yet another ruse to fool the fans but for what purpose?

Yeah, I aspire to be a billionaire, and intend to do something about it, just as soon as this one last PornHub video has ended. There have been plenty of stadium plans during our lifetimes, not one single plan, as far as I recall, has ever been subject to any kind of confidentiality agreement. Maybe terms with partners will be confidential, but not the entire development! Sorry, but I'm struggling to believe this. They had better hide this 'considerable cost' well in the accounts or Swiss will find it.

Maybe the statement has been made now to explain why (because of the 'considerable cost' of the fabled plan) there will be no money available for new players in January ?
The part that I find hardest to believe is that there is some huge piece of land in the Bristol area that no one is speculating about. The next hardest thing is believing that if this piece of land did exist, was available and could get planning for a stadium that the owners could afford to buy it,let alone afford to build a stadium.
Anyway what happened to 'plan b' redeveloping the present stadium ? is that now history too? or is the 'waq shaq' the redevelopment?

On the contrary AssHat is frothing with excitement and the owners are back in everyone's good books because we won a game and they have announced that they were planning something all along that has fallen through but they can't tell us exactly what. Honestly, the phrase "you get the club you deserve" has never seemed so apt.

One thing is for sure, the not inconsiderable costs will be added to debt at some point. The statement says this is 'another' development site that has fallen through, so we can presume this is not the UWE, what with the Sainsbury fiasco and now double stadium deal collapse, couple of million blown away?.

Not sure that this sort of non statement was required as once again, it just leaves more questions. I’ve said before, don’t treat Gasheads as idiots. Most are far more intelligent than a long line of owners have thought and deserve so much more in terms of respect and hope.

Perhaps it’s just me, but what actually is unreasonable about this statement?
Some people on here and elsewhere really need to get over having such an epic meltdown.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt. But just to help, can you find other examples of stadium plans where the entire thing is covered by confidentiality agreements and nobody in any Council departments have mentioned anything?

I understand that the UWE is not going to go ahead, and I can see that we don't have the money to develop the Memorial Stadium, or that it is not profitable enough. Fair enough.
What I don't understand is why the training ground is not feasible. I thought we owned the land, and had planning permission. Surely, all we need is a few pitches and a building to house all the facilities. How is this not feasible?
To start with, could we not have a glorified pavilion?
This is very strange.

One thing is for sure. They are experts at non communication or better still keeping those interested on side. About the only supported fact in the statement is that DC has left. It's another missive which generates another diatribe of speculation and gossip.
We don't need this. But perhaps they do! The timing of this unsupported information is in IMO the issue here. DC is going to issue his statement in the near future, which may expose certain factors about the running of our club, which may not be to the taste of the owners. So get your oar in first!
Whereas their confidentiality clause may be accurate, the lack of any details lends the statement to uncertainty.
Every point in the statement is relative.
And I'm sorry, but why do we need to conduct our business from an office in London? why do we employ these expensive consultants if they achieve zilch?
I've supported Bristol football for over more years than most supporters have lived. For goodness sake could someone with clout at the club just be open, honest and straightforward or just bugger off an leave the running of the club to people we can respect.
