DC constantly changed the team and it got us 2 promotions and 2 mid table finishes That is history and no relevance on the current position the club finds itself in and there is little or no sentiment in today's much improved as some keep telling me football. It is current results that decide a managers fate not what he did last season. While that is undoubtedly true (although I'm not sure there ever really was much sentiment in the game-look at the destitution so many ex-pros ended up in) very few of the people posting on here (possibly only you in fact) are really 'in the game' so to speak so the perspective is different. Nearly all of us are fans - fandom is all about sentiment, without it we wouldn't bother being fans of a lower league football club because it's not a rational thing to do. While the game itself may be devoid of sentiment it also relies on the irrational sentiment of fans to keep it going. That's the paradox. I don't disagree that DC's sacking was pretty much inevitable at this point but I still think it's a terrible thing that makes me feel less warmly towards the club - and appointing Ollie/Flynn/Cotterill/AN Other is not going to change that. I felt the same when Ollie was fired and when Trollope was. If you can't feel a bond towards a long serving manager then I don't know what the point of being a football fan is really.
I certainly don't want Holloway back either. Irrespective of the arguments about what he did with us first time around (I don't think that really matters-he's a totally different manager now anyway), what matters is that his record with sides who were in relegation battles has been dire. He's not the man for this scenario.

Is Flynn being unveiled at the Fleetwood match ? Have County agreed compensation now? Will he bring his assistant Wayne Hatswell and former Rovers goalkeeper Glyn Jones ?

Having said that, Partick Thistle's sacked manager Oddly Archibald is probably the most similar to Clarke, had a long and the on the whole successful period with Partick. Probably stayed a little too long. I think he replaced Jackie Macnamara at Thistle when he went to York. Macnamara was a successful manager at Thistle yet seemed totally out of his depth at York and was part of the management team that took them into the NLNorth. So I’d be worried if we went that way. Istr that his name came up with the Swindon job 1/2 managers ago. I don’t know if it was just rumour or if he was offered the job and turned it down but sure I read it somewhere. UTG!

It is current results that decide a managers fate not what he did last season. Spot on. You saw what happened to Kevin Nolan this season. Your both totally missing the point that "crater" was making. He was saying that dc achieved incredible success at the club with rotation of the team a constant theme. Dc lost his jobs because of a long run of poor results. Thats all.

I think I made the point earlier that it looks worse when you're losing and it's easy to miss it when you're winning.

NO and that's all I can say or will say because everything else is hearsay Pure and Simple Great song from the Lightning Seeds
Night time slows, raindrops splash rainbows Perhaps someone you know, could sparkle and shine As daydreams slide to color from shadow Picture the moonglow, that dazzles my eyes And I love you
Just lying smiling in the dark Shooting stars around your heart Dreams come bouncing in your head Pure and simple everytime Now you're crying in your sleep I wish you'd never learnt to weep Don't sell the dreams you should be keeping Pure and simple everytime
Dreams of sights, of sleigh rides in seasons Where feelings not reasons, can make you decide As leaves pour down, splash autumn on gardens As colder nights harden, their moonlit delights And I love you
Just lying smiling in the dark Shooting stars around your heart Dreams come bouncing in your head Pure and simple every time Now you're crying in your sleep I wish you'd never learnt to weep Don't sell the dreams you should be keeping Pure and simple every time
Look at me with starry eyes Push me up to starry skies There's stardust in my head Pure and simple every time Fresh and deep as oceans new Shiver at the sight of you I'll sing a softer tune Pure and simple over you
If love's the truth then look no lies And let me swim around your eyes I've found a place I'll never leave Shut my mouth and just believe Love is the truth I realize Not a stream of pretty lies To use us up and waste our time
Lying smiling in the dark Shooting stars around your heart Dreams come bouncing in your head Pure and simple every time Now you're crying in your sleep I wish you'd never learnt to weep Don't sell the dreams you should be keeping Pure and simple every time
Look at me with starry eyes Push me up to starry skies There's stardust in my head Pure and simple every time Fresh and deep as oceans new Shiver at the sight of you I'll sing a softer tune Pure and simple over you Pure and simple just for you

Not that one - this one by Hear'Say Doesn't this sum up our love (for the Gas)? You've been sayin' I'm drivin' you crazy, And I haven't been around for you lately, But I had a few things on my mind. When I'm with you I am filled with emotion, Can't you see that I'm givin you devotion, And a love like this is hard to find.
I know I've been walkin around in a daze, (BABY, BABY) But you've gotta believe me when I say, OHHH OOH.
Where ever you go, (I want to be there), Whatever you do, (i'm always gonna be there), It's pure and simple (yeah yeah) I'll be there for you. Pure and simple gonna be there, Whatever it takes, (i'm gonna be there), I swear it's true, (i'm always gonna be there), It's pure and simple (yeah yeah) I'll be there for you, pure and simple gonna be there.
I've been there through the stormiest weathers, Always trying to make things a bit better, And I know I've gotta try and get through to you. You can love me in a way like no other but the situations takin' you under, So you need to tell me now what you want to do.
I'll always be there for you baby, You know that I'll always be around, (oh yeah) I'm always gonna be there. I'll always be there for you hunny, You know I'll never let you down, (OOHH OHH) 'cause your the only one for me, yeah yeah yeah. Baby, baby.
