Darrell Clarke
Thanks for trying to keep us in L2 taking over from John Ward. We nearly did it. That late win at Wycombe gave us hope.
I'll never forget the Mansfield game. It took me a while to get over that. That silence when the whistle went for full time and we knew Wycombe had won their game. We were down.
You could have walked away. That summer of finding out which players you really rated to keep and which ones you didn't was interesting. The ones like Lee Brown and Mark McChrystal who believed in you to stick around.
The new players like Sinclair, Taylor, Monkhouse, who would eventually get us back at the first attempt.
You seemed to have a knack for finding the hungry player. It clicked for me at home to Gateshead on the telly. We didn't look back from there. Nearly caught Barnet. The support was amazing, you helped get our Rovers back.
I remember Kidderminster away, we had 2/3 of the crowd. Linesy was back. It was amazing.
Wembley. Grown men crying. The emotion of 12 months earlier in reverse. Mansell earns his place in folklore. He was another hungry player.
League 2 was just a blur. Fitness and again that word hunger told as the season went on. Proving that there is not much difference between the Conference and L2.
Your group of players kicked on. Adding the classy Bodin. A gamble that paid off. The higher we finish, you never know..
No one liked playing Rovers, especially at the Mem. Taylor was excellent. The whole team improved together. The cameos of Easter and Lawrence. All played their parts. Jake Gosling nutmegs the midfielder to set up Easter, to Taylor, post.....Browners right foot.
The stadium shook.
We went down together, we went up together.
You will not beat winning promotion at home. You did that for us.
The last two seasons were good. Home form was very good. Some good players came and went.
History will be kind and forget 2018.
We are grateful that you came to be our manager.
Cheers DC.
