I think it says something about the relative decline in Olly's reputation in recent years that there aren't more people clamouring for this. A few years ago this kind of scenario would have precipitated full on 'return of the king' demands from all sides.
Olly's had a decent career as a manager-much better than nearly anyone would have expected when he left Rovers - but his recent record has been quite underwhelming and he's probably slipped off the Championship managerial carosal now and is clearly heading the wrong way in his career. I think at this stage Olly's career pattern is quite clear - give him a team of young and ambitious players who he can mould and get to buy into his approach and he'll galvanise them and the whole club with it. Give him money to spend, grizzled pros or the grind of a relegation battle and the results are not nearly as impressive. If we were to get rid of a manager now we'd want one with a proven record of coming straight in mid-season and producing an instant turnaround in an attempt to stay-up. This is not something that is easy to find. Holloway's record in that scenario throughout his career has been flat out poor - he's never been able to turn around a sinking ship, that's just not his strength. He's not the man we would need.
But it is a fair challenge to those who want rid of DC - name the replacement you want because that's the more important part of the equation. Sacking the manager is the easy scapegoating bit of it - finding a replacement that would turn us around is the much harder job and one we've never done well with. If Holloway is the best idea that anyone can come up with then I'll take a pass thanks.
I have Atkin's phone number, any use?

It's the level of disrespect for a former darling that disappoints me. Our life would have been a lot duller without that man in our lives. It would have been but that doesn't mean he has some kind of permanent claim on the Rovers dugout.
The point that it seems reasonable to ask anyone who wants the manager out mid-season who they would like to see bought in as replacement and on what basis you could expect improvement. It's easy and somewhat consequence free to cry 'sack the manager' - a lot harder to identify one that will come in and improve the situation. Otherwise there is a false choice being presented between DC and some fantasy potential managerial saviour; clubs trade off this fantasy every year to temporarily appease their fanbases. The role of manager was originally created by club owners to provide a buffer between themselves and disgruntled fans and that remains a key part of it - the magic alternative manager remains one of the most powerful myths in football.
When the club is struggling people understandably like the idea of 'current manager vs some vague potential person who is not the current manager'. But the real choice is between DC and an actual named individual and then it isn't neccesarily so popular. We can all get the pitch forks out but is there an alternative that most people like better (and it's a bit of a cop out saying anyone is better because we 100% know that isn't true from our past)?
So far the names I've seen suggested by those who would axe DC have been of the usual 'proper Rovers people' variety; Holloway, Steve Yates and Marcus Stewart. Given the choice betwee DC and those 3 I'd stick with DC every time.
Most of the DC out and indeed any “manager out” stuff is blowing off steam. Whatever tactics he used are wrong and another approach is needed. As an example: A lot of fans have moaned about managers “favourites” and not dropping players (Trollope anyone?) Under buckle, who attempted to play fast counter attack/break football, we were “too easy to crumble through the middle” D.C., who tends to favour build up play should “play it down the wings” The advice always changes based on what went wrong. Few fans stick to an approach. They see what’s going on, and then if we lose, said manager is tactically inept and we should have done blah blah blah. Ferguson almost got sacked. Teams and managers have bad runs. The issue is, what is the PROCESS and ethic? What is the club ethos? Every since I saw my first D.C. interview I thought - this is a smart guy, a leader and someone who is canny and motivated. I will stick to backing him.

Cotterill has been tapped to see if he will do it and it seems that DC has had warnings. We shall see. I do think Cotterill could do a job in my opinion. Think DC has just lost himself and though I’d like to see him turn it around, I’m not so sure his head is in it, heart , yes but I think he is way too predictable to other managers
