Looking like a goal less draw 5 mins left Classic. Oh dear oh drear where do I start giving an opinion on this game.Burton were poor but they were a long way better than rovers.they had pace and ideas going forward organised in midfield and defence.rovers had a plan a which was kick the bloody ball as far as you can and hope someone gets on the end of it. There was no construction in the play no accuracy in passing and wingers playing on the wrong wing so compacting the play. We could have stayed on the pitch long after Burton had left it and we still wouldn't have created a goal scoring opportunity.we have been lucky the last few years because we have got away with these tactics because in Taylor. Bodin.and Harrison we had players who could conjure o goal out of nothing 9 goals in 13 games and 6 of those in 2 tells it's own story.now we need to see what dc can do and if the board are really watching this sort of rubbish

I am afraid it is time for Clarke to go. Can’t see him turning things around. Four games without a goal now. that's very harsh only manager to get successive promotions DC is a hardworking manager and deserves Chewbacca's support. I’ve not called for him to be sacked...

You can't live on history.football is a results orientated game and there is no room for sentimentality.at the end of the day dc is the manager he picks the side and tactics and until recently has been responsible for recruitment.our wage bill has nearly doubled since the take over so his budget must have increased and he is getting some of the infrastructure he was calling for. As I have said on numerous occasions over the years the board only pick the manager they don't train them or pick the side so eventually the buck stops with him.like it or not all managers get the sack eventral ly and sooner or later it will happen to dc.that is a board decision and nothing the fans say or do will influence that only results and finance

Why do we not look like scoring?
1. Style of play 2. No match-winners.
This has a relegation season written all over it.
4 more games for me and then a decision has to be made, either to revamp our tactics from within or change of manager.

especially as manager is currently demoralised with off the pitch matters, reducing his man-management effectiveness. His best card.

Sorry but Clarke brought in the vast majority of this squad, he picks the side (constant tinkering being a source of frustration) and the tactics. The side look poor and don’t look like scoring (they haven’t in for now). I think Clarke has taken us as far as he can and we cannot afford to let this carry on much longer. Sentimentality is fine but this is a results based game. We have only won two in 13 and don’t forget our form was very poor for the last quarter of last season too. So about 4 wins in almost 30 league games. Sorry, not good enough.

I will pass on some details. The methodical nature of our recruitment will surprise many, but it's down to DC who he wants. Tom Lockyer believes like me that we defend too deep, but that is because we don't press the ball higher up the pitch. He also thinks that Holmes-Dennis will be a great addition. The sensitivity to criticism was a key theme. Leads is very much affected by crises of confidence. Any questions - please ask. nice one. I don't have anything specific 'off the top of my head', but these are interesting insights I saw Wilfred Zaha interviewed. He said he's very much a confidence player - when he's down he's not half as effective, and when he's up he can 'do things he didn't know he could do' they are all human. Some need to be told they're a bit rubbish to get the best out of them (Ian Botham), others need a bit of building up etc. Good to know that about Leds PS I'm not sure if he's the same, but I don't think I've ever seen a player looking as low on confidence as Tom Nicholls did at the end of last season

Gaffers scored two more to-day which takes his total to more than our forwards total between them!!!!!

Forget that old "lost the dressing room nonsense".
I think that change of formation and personnel has led to a general loss of confidence in many players.
That's why we seem slower in our approach. Lack of cohesion because players have to think about the next pass. Small margins. There are no established partnerships anywhere on the pitch. Partnerships instil confidence.
No discernible pattern of play. No settled team. The real worry is that we look poor.

Also can't pass the ball and can't put ball in an area 8 yards by 8 feet in other words the goal.basic skills.it is also obvious that if the ball when it is cleared keeps coming back at you eventually you make a mistake

The two promotions under Clarke started slowly, with quite a lot of tinkering, the runs in had lot less tinkering and were great run ins. I think a lot of the tinkering so far has been forced on Clarke, some injuries keeping people out for a sequence of matches, and some where they have missed one or two. We haven’t seen new lb at all, and with the hamstrings Sercs has had it seems sensible to go easy with him. In the interviews Daryl is sounding right at the top of his game, but his goalscorers are letting him down a bit It could be the goalscorrers are already here at the club. Matty Taylor took a few games before his first Rovers goals, Lambert I recall laboured to four goals before get the spark from his post Christmas winner against City. Cureton I remember vividly, made his debut away at Plymouth and was anonymous before hauled off half time, was quiet in following games before exploding into life with a couple of stunning goals. Players being human take a while to settle, being human some more than others. The rotation of tactics going on probably not helping with that

And here's a tactic.
Give the ball to Lines, give Sercombe a completely free role, Lines to find Sercombe, play from there, but play 20 yards further up the pitch and press to win the ball in the opposition half.
Lines is our best passer, Sercombe our most creative player. End of.
Play Lockyer and Clarke together at back, enabling you to play a higher line.
Drop Craig (legs have gone) and never play Nicholls again.
Pray that we see Holmes-Dennis before takeover happens.

Marcus Stewart, Cureton, Matty Taylor who have just scored 7 in 9 games would see goal hit ball in a way Nicholls is taking too long. He goes to Exeter on loan in January and scores 15 times not just because its L2 football but because the change of scene gets the handicap hes playing with off his shoulders, he is taking that little bit too long because its almost like the yips now, strength, agility, first touch, balance all good enough for a better goal return, but he’s got something many strikers haven’t got and that’s the weight of the world on his shoulders meaning he’s taking just fraction too long in front of goal. If you are reading this Nico, the way out of this is positivity on the pitch, see goal hit ball, as Wako Jako said, don’t think twice don’t think twice

I'm not having it that it comes down to budget. Quality recruitment on a budget could have seen us compete at the lower levels of the league at least but we have just brought in absolute dross because we don't have the skill to spot the best players in our price range.
