Reading this thread it appears that some of us have zero ambition left, these owners seem to have knocked any last embers of hope out of some of us. Why should we compare ourselves to clubs moribund in L1, we are based in a vibrant and comparatively wealthy City with a catchment area population of around a million people. Just look at how many PL clubs London has, now divide that by the population, same story for Manchester and the Birmingham area, but we have a huge advantage, there are only 2 clubs in this area. The benchmark should be what our competition are doing. Exactly! The owners are clearly apathetic, our new signings are apathetic, the manager is fast becoming apathetic and the supporters are buying into it too led by a core group of apologists who wring their hands in gratitude because the owners talked someone else into paying for a bar renovation. Where is the fire in supporter's bellies these days? We accept the transition from 'fan' to 'customer' with little more than the offer of a sticker poster in return.

Wait and see, said some.
Look at that picture!!!!
I am curious whether the stand at Cribbs has more seats.
Probably one of the most embarrassing days in our club's history, as we are a laughing-stock.
How can anyone defend that?
There will be some...

The 'it's more than the previous mob did for us' brigade will be along shortly I'm sure. That is pretty much the only excuse they have left for that shambles in the picture.

This has got to be a practical joke.

Elevated position giving the best view for the area it's in. I don't think it's too bad. Would be a waste to build a flashy new stand if the possibility of a move is still on cards. I think the context in which this stand has been built matches my expectation IMHO.

I agree, it's an eyesore and a disgrace, and surely reduces capacity should we get a ''sell out''. It's right up there with the ''Grotto'' except that was on site for just a few matches. (If we are lucky enough, it may blow away).

But as always with these things, it's us that end up paying. Our replica shirts are more expensive than a lot of PL clubs, food prices are up, bar prices are up, everything is up, and Gorringe has spent the money on this pathetic stand which actually reduces capacity. You expect to see this sort of rubbish at amateur clubs, not a club where the man who has awarded himself the boastful title of President claims to be 'ambitious'.

We would all be much happier Or we could stop messing around running the club as if it's being managed by a WI group* who have a 50p budget and couldn't organise a day out to Weston. *Apologise to the Women's Institute, they were the first organisation that sprang to mind and sounded faintly ridiculous, the intention wasn't to suggest that they would waste money on that rubbish new ''stand''. It must be the worst new stand erected in the FL for many years.

Yes PP. Let's stop moaning and to use your unforgettable words "roll with it".
The "Waq Shack" is hilarious BTW.
Should we mount a petition to bring it down as it brings the club and maybe football in general into disrepute? Whatever must Bristol Energy think?
We can put it in the Colony and allow our analysts and coaches to keep dry. It might have just enough seats for this group?
If the Colony does not happen, it might be useful for the UWE ladies hockey team and all their supporters? Perhaps one for the CEO and his community focus?

I can see the WAQ Shack being taken on a roadshow, parking itself opposite local schools to raise awareness of what a great day out it is at the Gas. Starnes waving a cutlass and a Jolly Roger flying from the top of the shack. When Hamer said we were the new Crazy Gang we all seemed to think it was the tongue in cheek mutterings of a Boris Johnson-esque fuddy duddy. Little did we know the big plan post UWE collapse is to turn us into the sort of outfit even 1980s Wimbledon would be embarrassed to associate with.

Let's grow some "stingers" at The Colony in memory of Olly being thrown in stinging nettles on his first day at Training at Wimbledon FC. He was always known as "Stinger".
I would love to know the thoughts of Bristol Energy on this fiasco.

Dropping into non-league did not rouse Rovers fans to action and watching as almost the entire equity we had in the Mem is wasted has not done it either. Fans are coming to realise that the Al-Qadi family will not keep increasing their loan indefinitely and so they assume the takeover will happen and the new owners will have to pay off whatever amount Dwane Sports have accrued by then. But what if the takeover stalls at this point and there is an impasse because Dwane insist on their loan being repaid in full and the potential new owners say their plans won't be viable if they pay too much to Dwane so for the deal to proceed Dwane will have to carry some of the losses. Which side would Gasheads take if this happened ?

They may even end up making a profit once the interest is accounted for.

The new stand allows more spectators,in particular families a chance to watch the games sitting down and dry so its clearly improved the ground. Its not the new ground we all want but its an obvious improvement/attraction for a family.

Theres clearly two sides to this thread. But There’s no drippy middle way on this one.
I have defended the owners in recent weeks, saying give them time, Rome wasn’t built in a day. And this is how they repay me for my support? Thoroughly, thoroughly embaressing me.
The Waq Shaq is without any doubt one of the great UnWonders of the World.
It stands there screaming “haven’t a clue” straight back you. Even if you close your eyes, you can still see it, and still hear havnt a bloody clue ringing in your ears. Even if you were in space you’d still hear this thing scream.
I can only believe, and so want to believe, those people in this thread defending it just havnt seen it for themselves, just the concept of extra elevation and covered seating for families can’t be that bad can it? Well, hold that concept right there, and we willl apply all science from the moment first Cro Magna man that got drunk with Nia Anderthal woman to beget the human race, and conclusively answer that question. Yes. It can be that bad. And this is how. From concept, through design, to realisation, the project has been given to people who have never been to football in their life, and probably don’t even know what football is, say think of Dads Army, think of Godfreys sisters, Dolly and... Molly was it, that is who came up with this for us. Perhaps they knitted the original prototypes. Of course, Dolly and Molly already going to so much kind effort knitting the model prototypes the board didn’t like to say no.
How bad? Once news spreads of this, this thing, it will add hundreds to the gate, as people travel from all over the world just to see this this, this thing, with their own eyes. You know the sort, trainspotters. Those who go up hills in the middle of the night, in anoraks with flasks of tea hoping to watch UFO’s make crop circles. And you know what. They can buy a ticket, we put them in, this, this thing, and they will be right at home.
Personally I don’t like it.

The divide in the fan base about the Waq Shack is child's play compared to what could happen if a deal stalls over the amount of cash Dwane Sports want to relinquish control of the club. If a deal collapses because of Dwane wanting their loan repaid in full I wonder how many Gasheads will still support them and say "it is only fair they get all their money back".
