Deeply unimpressive debut by Kyle Bennett. Can only get better!

Deeply unimpressive debut by Kyle Bennett. Can only get better! To be fair to him he will need time to adjust to playing on a ploughed field.

I thought the best all round team won today.
I really liked their shape. They made it hard to break down their defence and our approach always came up against a stubborn rearguard. Then they took their chances - and even missed an earlier easier one - and seen out the match.
Without domination, I see this as the best 'team' I've seen this season, and well done to them for the win.
If we can aspire to defensively deal with anything the way they did, we could do alot worse than look at the Shrews. Their no 22 was a man mountain, nothing got past him and he man handled Gaff and Ellis out the match without even raising a foul! + he scored their winner. My m o m.
Positives. We competed. Craig my rovers m o m.
Negatives. It wasn't our day.
Moving on we can get the rub of the green in a different way in next few games in a difficult month for us.
A good game, well done all huff and puff effort, just not to be. Maybe next time v Poxford..

From the Shropshire Star Paul Hurst’s men sent 700 Shrewsbury fans into raptures with an incredible late salvo from Alex Rodman stealing the three points for tireless Town - who just never give up.
It was Town's first win at Bristol Rovers in 18 attempts dating back to November 1969.
Rodman, sent on as a sub 15 minutes from time, won the ball, darted beyond two challenges to the byline and shot in via the far post. The cross-shot seemed to be helped over the line at the back post by the charging Toto Nsiala. He was in the right place to convert but it was Rodman's magic for the assist.
The winger, dropped in Town’s only change, danced around defenders in a superb bit of skill and technique.
All three goals came in the second period. Omar Beckles had broke the deadlock with his first goal for the club after the hour but Joe Partington replied for the hosts.
In a game of little excitement, the final seconds were something else as Town made changes, pushed for a winner and it came in phenomenal style. The goalscorer was unclear as Rodman fizzed an effort to the back post. It might have got a touch off a team-mate, it might have gone in via the post - Town fans cared not one bit.
Other plus points on a damp and otherwise miserable day in Bristol was the debut of Nathan Thomas, selected from the off. The Sheffield United loan man was superb.
As were the immense, immovable objects of Abu Ogogo and Nsiala. The win sent Town back into second, two points above Blackburn who lost at Plymouth, while Hurst’s men boast a game in hand.

Ps..
I actually clapped with Shrewsbury!
All hate Wrexham! (wtf?) clap hands.... but, yea I've been to Wrexham, always lose, usually screwed by ref and face a dance you can do without outside after or before, so yea I concur. I hate them too!
Strange to sing about it though..

I thought shrewsbury were funtional and well drilled and found a way of winning in a dreary but hard battle with both teams mostly cancelling each other out. I think the substitutions fatally weakened the midfield and cost us dear on the day.

I'm bemused how often players are signed midweek and go straight into the team, I watched Craig in comparison with Broadbent for the first 30 minutes and Broadbent was immense and Craig was pretty much anonymous. Why break up a winning combination of Sweeney and Broadbent with some kind of understanding against a 'top' side? What will happen when Locks is fit, surely Broadbent has proved himself? Oh but then we have the tinkering of the team.

Shrewsbury were better than us all over the park. Their tempo and passing was always that bit more than we could muster. Thatbsaid, we should ha e held on for a point but two players switched off and let their guy through to put the ball invitingly to their striker. Shrewsbury are a very good side and the difference between a top Side and a mid table side was there to see. That said, I am more than happy at a mid table position following our poor run late last year.

I thought it was actually very optimistic. Not 100% sure, but was it Bennett assist for our goal?

I thought he did nothing all the time he was on,that TB had him in his pocket, hence he was subbed. And keepers? As neither had much to do,difficult to judge. You did say "all over the pitch" after all. The difference for me was they are top, going well, have momentum & at halftime knew they could go second. Frankly though they'll hardly grace the Championship.

I thought it was actually very optimistic. Not 100% sure, but was it Bennett assist for our goal? If it was, and I don't think it was, he passed the ball five yards to a player who took a pot-shot from 20 yards that took two deflections and went through the keepers legs. They all count, but to call it an assist is generous. (I think it was Sercombe anyway)
