I got an email today informing me of the new signings. Looking back it's the first since a flurry of four in August 2016. Before that date, none at all. Maybe our communication system is on the up.

My exact thoughts when I got that email!
Weird thing is I simply logged into the wireless system at AFC Flydes ground and I now get about four emails a week from them.

Indeed I was willing and dealing last night deceiving non-league chairman.

I get a news update email every Friday - doesn't say anything which isn't on the club web site, but don't understand if you are saying you don't usually receive emails.

I get a news update email every Friday - doesn't say anything which isn't on the club web site, but don't understand if you are saying you don't usually receive emails. I used to get weekly ones ages ago when I was registered on the official site. Haven't had one for years. Possibly because I changed my email address at some point but didn't alter it on my registration details - and still haven't. So it looks as if someone's using their initiative to do some updating of records. A small thing perhaps, but something that people have been calling for for as long as I can remember.

I didn't get an email, and I don't want one either. So in that sense it's a job well done Correction: my spam filters are in fine working order!

I didn't particularly want one, but if someone's seeking out contact details it might indicate that there's an up to date database being compiled. That's a good thing isn't it?

Interestingly FC Communication won the Prva Liga, the second tier in Serbia in 2002.

Yes and No. Yes, it's great that a database is being used, although I wonder if the club is GDPR compliant in the way that the data is being used. After May, any mail lists should have active concent for email to be used.

If so, there was probably a box to tick if I didn't want to be contacted. That's a common thing and it's easy to not notice it.

You will no longer be allowed to have a "tick here if you don't want contact", it will have to be an explicit box to say that you don't mind being contacted and it will have to default to being "unchecked" on any form. You would also have to give consent if the details were to be passed on to a third party, the SC for instance. I'm sure it's all being dealt with, I just happen to be doing a fair bit of this at work and struck a chord with me when I read things like, "I'm puzzled how they got my current email address".

I'm all in favour of that change. It's too easy to just not see that tiny little box.
