From the Bristol Post
Bristol Rovers look set to sign Millwall defender Tony Craig ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline.
The left-back is expected to leave the Den to become Darrell Clarke’s second signing of the January transfer window.
Craig, 32, has taken in stints with five clubs and has played more than 500 games, 323 of which have been with his boyhood club, Millwall.

Anyway what I posted still stands for the team as it is.

Just making the point that if he is DC's target then I hope he has a back up just in case.it is a dangerous game to play this close to the deadline

interesting one. I can see that our back line is young (ex-Browner), but I didn't see a 32 year-old left back as a priority but that's why Darrell has his job and we all don't I suppose

Just playing devils advocate isn't signing a 33 year old player dropping down a league what people have been accusing previous boards and managers of doing that allegedly led us to the conference.

Lions signed a new left full back yesterday. So guess Craig's departure is now on?
Millwall are pleased to announce the signing of Harry Toffolo from Norwich City on a permanent deal until the end of the season.
Left-back Toffolo, 22, becomes Neil Harris' second signing of the January transfer window. The Canaries' youth product has enjoyed loan spells at Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Peterborough United, Scunthorpe United and Doncaster Rovers during his career and will now look to provide competition in The Lions' defence in the second half of 2017/18.

DC did say that he wanted experience. I think we should ready ourselves for the debate on this forum over the lack of proper signings in this window. So far it looks like mid-table is the target of the board; results are coming in, for which they are grateful for as they are papering over the cracks. It has been mooted that we could be on a run in towards the play offs. Whisper it quietly. :-)

Lads, you do realise he's played the last 6/7 seasons as a centreback?

Depends on what we are offering him/selling him. Is he doing his badges, are we selling a potential player/coach role possibly

on a permanent deal until the end of the season. so that permanent deal is shorter than many loans is this the way things are going, and what does it mean - it's a way of ending his Norwich contract, which a loan wouldn't be?

DC signing TC?
Been involved with 3 promotions from Tier 3 to Tier 2 (I think) - sounds like just the sort of winner DC likes, and just the sort of experience to assist our developing young defenders.

- A 23 ex-Youth Team player. - A 20 year old loanee. - A 25 year old in his first pro season. - A 20 year old in his first pro season.
It's clear to see we've lacked experience there this season, not only on the pitch but probably in the dressing room as well.

Full backs are the position most underrated, when you have very good fullbacks it transforms the team. We have had some great and firm favourites over the years. I like the thought of a mobile experienced full back coming in. Browner whilst a fav is definitely starting to be less of an overall influence, imho.

true. I have come to see it as Locks and Sweens as the dependables (which they were the 2nd half of last season, and are probably becoming again now), plus 2 able deputies. Hence not a priority but you're not wrong about experience. If that's what DC wants, then it works for me

OK, there is an argument for bringing in an experienced defender (Tony Craig). I would have thought a strong centre-mid or target man up front would have been more of a priority. This is where the squad is looking a bit thin. Shouldn't be a problem though - we have (correct me if I'm wildly wrong) between £300k - £400k to spend from the net proceeds of Bodin-Mensah. Darrell Clarke: "I have a Waitrose list, an Aldi list and a Poundland list." I would have thought that with that budget we would be looking at least a premium Aldi brand. Let's see what happens over the next day and a half.
