Were you at Twerton Park along with 7105 others ? If so you will have seen a remarkable 4-0 demolition of Bristol City.
With new manager Malcolm Allison in charge Rovers won 4-0 against a Bristol City side boasting the future England striker Andy Cole. City also fielded Danish international central defender Bjørn Kristensen and the thirty-year-old Polish international Dariusz Dziekanowski.
Three goals in thirteen second-half minutes helped Rovers to record their largest victory in a local derby since December 1963. Justin Channing's 35 yard strike was probably the best. Marcus Stewart, Carl Saunders and John Taylor completed the rout. Happy days indeed but not so significant as 2 May 1990.

I was there with my (soon to be) Gooner wife. She thought the sh*theads were like crazed caged animals - trying to climb out of their end and attack Rovers fans. (After the 3rd I think). 25 years on - some things don't change. Got relegated that season. This result made it a lot easier to bear.

I was there Steve Yates had Andy Cole in his pocket all game, I would have said Carl Saunders was the best goal.

There were 2 City fans sitting in the row in front of me in the main stand. Near the end of the game they got up, walked down through the terrace, and confronted the City bench. Not sure what happened to them after they did that. Long time ago. Think they were from Norton/Radstock area.

I was there in Popular Side! It was mental in there.....all chat about c*ty trying to get in our end, ask WBA and Brum about that!
My fav goal was Stewie's, he caught it on the volley that arrowed straight in the top corner. Him being a c*ty fan and all.
If I recollect, was it played on a Sunday?

For years I have done a 'double' bet, City to lose 2-0 and Rovers to win 2-0 (Which btw took nearly 30 years to come in!) On this day I obviously couldn't do it, so I combined the scores and bet Rovers to win 4-0 at 66/1

Epic memories and four top drawer goals. That Stewart volley was a brilliant piece of control, I think we all knew he was something special after he hit that. Just a magical, magical day. On a side note, a few years back I did an Ironman and at my lowest point about two thirds of the way through the marathon when the pain was pretty immense and I was so close to quitting I randomly started singing "FOUR-NIL! We beat the city four nil, we beat the city four nil, we beat the city four nil...". Probably more like mumbling actually given my state at the time. I maintain to this day that the lift singing that gave me got me over the finish line! That game was played 25 years ago but it could have been 100 years ago - it still lifted my spirits
