Nice to hear the captaincy didn't affect Lockyer this week and Browner is no longer not good enough. Bola who?

Locks may be captain in name, but Partington takes a very pro active vocal stance during match. Even when v Rotherham scored last week, Parts was one clapping his hands to gee the team up to rally them. I also think his position aligns the defence, so the centre backs have more time and the flanks appear to be covered....this helps Brown's game. It has seemed to galvanised the whole rearguard. We shouldn't underestimate the value of that position, or Partington himself for executing it effectively.

SteveK has been one to question Lockyer as Captain, so just highligting it didnt seem to be a problem this week or the week before. Partington in front of the back 4 as helped the defence no doubt. Not sure if he was made captain it would make him a better organiser or more vocal. Its not a computer game where you level up players Brown had another solid game. Did his thing. Distinct lack of calls for Bola to replace him in the past few weeks now Brown is no longer past it

I don't really care who is doing the shouting so long as it is positive and the others listen. There is no doubt some kind of on-the-pitch voice has been needed.
Steve is not alone, I also have questioned Locks' captaincy, he was a key player for us, and I do not feel being captain has affected him as he does so very little in that area - it's a loss of form.

Nice to hear the captaincy didn't affect Lockyer this week and Browner is no longer not good enough. Bola who? Over the course of the season I would suggest that Locks being Captain has not helped and his form has suffered. The odd win and a good performance - does not change my mind on that one. Browner had a good game and got a lot closer to their right winger - which is what people have consistently been suggesting he do. The only reason for Bola's absence I have heard put forward is that he didn't try hard enough in a meaningless trophy game. From what I have seen he deserves more time on the pitch (and ditto for Telford). Apart from that - spot on.

From what I've seen this season, I think League one is playing out into three mini-leagues and the table is showing that...
Top 8. Bottom 6. Everyone else.
We'll go on good runs, we'll go on bad runs, we do seem to be a bit of a feast or famine side. Other sides around us seem to be more consistently inconsistent as opposed to our consistency over 3-6 game periods. We should try and aim for a top 10 finish, thus finishing near the top of our mini-league.

I think most would agree that that was the most solid looking performance by the back four we've seen all season. Partington just in front of them and Sincs/Sercombe battling for everything meant that the back four had a huge amount of protection. I am not alone in questioning the amount of game time that O Clarke and Lines have been getting recently. Gaffers up front. Nichols, Lines, O Clarke benched. Partington as defensive mid. Jobs a good 'un.
