What's the point in updating any of the current facilities if we are going to knock it all down more bulls*** from our owners and a new shop to sell our fabulous range of merchandise?? We are miles behind similar clubs in our range of kit / leasure wear and the marketing is a joke there is a good sized customer base who we should be targeting I receive emails from celtic on a weekly basis and spend a fair amount of money each year with them why aren't we doing the same it's 3 weeks before Xmas and the club shop hasn't any kit to sell there's any old saying you can polish a turd but it's still a turd well that's what our club feels like to me at the moment Never has the saying you can’t polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter been so apt for our current situation

I'm just an old fellow who had a revitalised interest in my football club, because I really believed that I would still be around when we moved into an impressive new stadium on the back of a renewed success over the last few years under potentially one of the best English football managers of his time. My first season ticket was a pair of complimentary stand tickets given while working voluntarily for Ron and Jan Moules alongside others like Ray Kendall. The successful period under Don Megson included. So to the interview! What a waste of space. Sorry to most of you guys, but the weakness of the piece was not IMO just the answers from Wael but the equally inept interviewing technique. Over 50 percent of the interview trawling dead in the water ground of the UWE negotiations. He should have pressed Wael hard over the matters which are the most important. The future! Where are we going. In detail!!!! Wael trotted out the same old as we have heard before. These guys who are experts in building stadiums? who are they; what have they built; where's the money coming from; when is planning up for approval; when is something going to physically happen. Well at least we learned that the leasehold was a major issue....or have I heard that before? Just two points on a personal basis. Having sat on the University Senate committee for many years and later attempted to form a company partnership with an erstwhile colleague..........one step forward, four steps back. God! That sounds familiar. That was Keith being hard believe it or not. From what I’ve seen in past interviews, he is a total sycophant & actively avoids any questions that could be perceived as awkward. I guess it’s a case of his masters voice. He started on certain topics but just didn’t push on with them. When Wael says this will take time then he should have said how long do you envisage the timeframe will be imo.

It’s absolutely feckin hilarious that so many people thought that anyone would pay the huge annual losses of a lower league football club out of the goodness of their own heart. Newsflash - there ain’t that many Steve Lansdowns on this planet these days. Well there is one, but the board sent him packing a couple of decades ago... BUT just one season of prem would give them more back than they probably know. Not that I even think of us ever getting there & I hate what that league has done, both on local & national levels. One would think a banking group would understand speculative spending. It’s for sure that Waels dream bubble has burst and his reach over extends his grasp in this scenario

But the Mem has been rotting for 20 years and has barely been touched. GD, NH et al, kept saying not worth it, we are moving or redeveloping and The Mem has been ignored. It needs TLC in the short term whatever IMO. They might as well not spend any money had they, seeing as they want out, Hani doesnt like football and all that Jazz Where are Ed and his Chinese mates Very cynical Simon but what you are conveniently overlooking is that previous boards that you fell out of love with never made the promises that we have had from the current owners neither did they have the financial wherewithal to make the substantial improvements you are alluding to The jury is out under The Al-Qadis. Something needs to happen to alay some of the questions and concerns As for the no false promises under previous boards. "Moving to Cheltenham" and "watertight contracts" spring to mind. Regardless of what is to happen with The Mem or not as the case maybe, it needs stuff done to it because it has bee more or less untouched for years and I am sure stuff has to be done to make sure it meets certain standards let alone need a lick of paint. Its like people critcising the disabled supporters shelters earlier in the season for being tin point. It might not be the greatest thing in the world, but at least its something, and something that could have been done relatively cheaply under Geoff, Nick, , Boycey, Kevin, Colin, Mike etc

If Hamer gave an interview like the one Wael gave yesterday he would be hung up with piano wire. What a limp wristed interview it was, if you listen closely to twentymans recent interview with Hamer there is plenty in there that says he's been misled and kicked in the goolagongs by the AlQ's, at least he had the bottle to go on and do it ! And as for DC's last Thursday interview, that was almost as if he was asking for the AlQ's to sack him and put him out of his misery. Still the sycophants on the other site think Wael is to be trusted. Did he not declare there would be a redevelopment of the Mem three months ago and now that's just going to be a new Club shop and toilets somewhere ?

And there are plenty of examples of owners putting large amounts of equity into lower league clubs.

Pits fir sure that Waels dream bubble has burst and his reach over extends his grasp in this scenario That was the only way they were ever going to have a hope of getting their money back. It would have required tens of millions in investment for possibly hundreds of millions in return. High risk, high stakes strategy yes but otherwise, why bother unless all you are interested in is the land? As it is, all they are guaranteed is to keep pissing away money. Top businessmen.

The girl that I go to away games with always goes to the club shops to buy a teddy bear for her little sister so I have seen lots of club shops and can say that Rovers are missing out on many money making ideas. I would let Keysie do all the club merchandise and let him keep 10% of the profit, Rovers would make shed loads and JK would be driving a Bentley by the end of the season.

Pull apart what little Wael actually said by all means, but he said they were going to tart things up and improve things. Plans and redeveloping The Mem would take time (which he said a lot in an excuse like fashion) You can choose to beleive him or not, but dont make up something he didnt say

Totally agree & it’s not making them look anything but a brass plating bunch right now. I cant think of anyone else where the owners have lost the goodwill so quickly, at least amongst fellow forum posters in any case

Got to correct you mate, back in August in his interview he said "regeneration" ! I wondered what it meant and now I know, new bogs and the shop being moved.
I wonder if this shop moving is going to involve the supporters club ?

How did you rate Ellis' performance today lad? Very good point kwoodgas. Westcountry Gas. Please let us know how you think Ellis has played this season? It would seem from most comments I have read, and games that I have attended, that Ellis is Player of the Season (so far). By a country mile. I seem to recall you doubting his ability. Would you care to give us an update? has Westcountry ever attended a game this season ?? Just asking because he could live in the Westcountry of Guernsey for all we know

I'm sure ours are not at that standard yet

Really? Certainly better than the last lot but that wasn’t difficult. edit: I never buy sliced bread, always fresh baked sourdough.
