Jonjo has had an up and down career since he left Daryl and Rovers. Maybe Weal and Steve Hammer might try and lure him back in January to play behind Ellys Harrison or Rary Goffney.

Had an op on his groin in April, still a few weeks away.

It's a perfectly fair reply. Looking at the squad, we are short of players who sulk and go missing when the going gets tough. He left the stadium with a grin on his face the day we got relegated out of the League, in his career as a footballer there's no misfortune (short of physical harm) that could befall him that I wouldn't applaud and laugh at.

I read a piece saying he was a cult figure at northampton town with fans wearing wigs mimicking his hair. If we had just one other of the front 6 as good as o"toole we wouldnt have got relegated out of the league in my view.

The main reason we got relegated was because the club wasn't organised from top to bottom, but on the pitch O-Toole gave up in that final season. Yes, he went at it against Mansfield and came close to scoring, but there were long periods in that season where he was unrecgnisable from the player we originally signed, and not in a good way. Spend a couple of mins on Google, you'll soon find that he had the same, shall we say 'motivation' problems at Northampton, I can't remember exactly what was said to him by the manager at the time, it was along the lines of, you need to decide if you want to be a professional footballer or not, if you do, there's a price to pay, and it starts with discipline and application.

I know about that stuff for us and at northampton though he came back strongly at northampton. It still takes some doing to score 15 goals in a garbage defence minded relegated team. Hes played over 300 league games so there is no need for him to decide if wants to be a pro is there? The only issue is how much his attitude has restricted his chance of having an even better career. When chris wilder made his critical remarks about him he responded by playing 38 games and scoring 12 goals in the northampton team that won the league!

That seems to be the things doesn't it, he's a complex character, if you can get his mind right he's a good player at this level. I've no idea what goes on in the dressing room but would imagine that a modern manager would struggle to find time to constantly micro manage players? In fairness, it wasn't just him, we could all name players who barely broke into a trot at times that season.

Be careful what you wish for fella left the stadium with a grin on his face ? That’s priceless. Say what you will but he scored 17 goals that season, it was the rest who didn’t step up to the plate but if you’re determined to blame one player then fair enough but please don’t say he enjoyed it, he got misquoted by an Irish rag who kept that story for an opportune moment. Me ? I’d have loved 11 of him that season. At least he showed his passion/anger/ disappointment. When your midfielder outscores the rest then I for one don’t hold any grudge.

The fact John Ward gave him a free role contributed to our relegation , yes he scored goals but that left a huge gap in the midfield. No time for him he thought he should be at a bigger club but has ended up with Northampton - really......

There were several quotes from O'Toole at the time to that effect, but my mind has clouded somewhat.
