I am not sure if I am unduly critical but the late winner on Saturday has papered over some cracks...we have struggled already against Posh, Fleetwood and Walsall at home to actually dominate as a home side should. Love him or loathe him I felt bringing on Ellis on Sat was to help us defend a point not win the match. The unexpected loss of Slocombe and despite the plaudits given to the inexperienced French keeper who frankly had a good deal of good fortune on his side we struggled to compete with the slick passing Saddlers midfielders. A lack of a natural left winger and competent striker will in my opinion hamper any serious play off chances. Nichols, Harrison and Gaffney are not regular goalscorers. Bodin is by far our most potent striker and opponents will soon realise that. Leads and Brown look poor at times going forward while our goals conceded column is one of the worst in the four divisions. The visit of the Latics will give DC selection problems...no Slocombe, Smith, Sinclair or J Clarke. I am unconvinced as to the contributions of Moore and Burn. Lets hope Oldham are as bad as their current league position suggests. You have stated exactly as I also believe the current situation to be. I actually think opposing managers have already worked us out and we were extremely lucky to come away with all 3 points on Saturday. God forbid we if went up this season with this squad. With regards to Oldham I think with their recent investment they will be soon climbing the table but hopefully not before next Saturday. We are a middle of the road Third div team at best.

We did not struggle against Fleetwood, and I can't see what "good fortune" Andre got dealt that couldn't be put down to competent goalkeeping. Other that, I broadly would agree, apart from what have you been watching for the last 15 years if you think this is anything other than as good as we've had it on the pitch, apart from parts of last season when the players not particularly in-form now were playing better? I think we outplayed Walsall for the first 30 mins and after that it was even. Their goal came against the run of play, after which we had a bit of an uphill battle, which we won. I don't see too much to criticise on the pitch at present.

If we were out played (and i dont thi k we we were) they created nothing to actually worry is other than the free header we gave them for the goal and the inevitable pressure towards the end when we were holding on

I don't see too much to criticise on the pitch at present. I disagree. Both Fleetwood and Walsall played well against us, but Walsall in particular dominated large parts of the game (without determination in last third) and can deservedly feel a bit aggrieved they didn't come away with more. Especially as we were down to 10. I so want Andre to be the next Thomas/Kite etc, but all I saw was a fortunate performance of 30 mins based on adrenalin and backing from over 7000 Gas, animated and vocal. I really hope the lad puts in a performance tomorrow. I'll be happy to support this at 10pm tomorrow night, but pushing a reluctant defender into a wall for a free kick is funny and quirky (and very effective), but hardly inspires confidence as it reminds me of schoolboy footy.. Hb post was very valid imo.

Hb post was very valid imo. Have you never seen a goalkeeper push one of his defenders before? I am sure tbe likes of Steve Phillips, or Mildenhall etc would tell someone to get in the fecking wall if he wanted them there What was Andre supposed to do in those 30 mins to inspire confidence? We were always likely to come under pressure and any team worth their salt would try and put pressure on a young keeper. What i did notice was a keeper who was happy to fall on the ball, lie on it, take the ball to the other side of the goal. All the slowing down tactics. He made some good saves as well. Not sure what more can anyone expect

But Fleetwood weren't in the game apart from a few minutes after they scored and I didn't think Walsall were much better but we did try to implode in the 2nd half. The fact we won the game with 10 men is surely to our credit? Andre is as raw and inexperienced as they come but he did well. He literally could not have done more in his 30 mins on Saturday to help us win the game.

Nope, never seen a keeper push a player in a wall. Have you? I'm sure others have reorganised a defence in a different manner, but I'm not convinced yet. Are you?

It bothers me we still haven't imposed ourselves at home atm as we concede goals. True, you didn't say Hb post was invalid, but hardly gave the post credit for what he said that was right. Agree with Andre comment.

I think it is going to take more than 30 mins to be impressed or convinced for any keeper. He came on in what was going to be a pressure situation. If he pushed one of our players so what he was taking charge The kid did all that was asked for 30 mins. I would leave it at that for npw and not pick the bones out of his performance

Fleetwood at home was as controlled, solid & a professional performance (especially in defence) you are ever going to see.
Don't think we were overly in panic stations mode on Saturday either.
