Its like Brexit ...no deal is better than a bad deal ...funny how so called gasheads turn on owners so quickly Martin Flook, Barry Bradshaw, The Dunfords, Nick Higgs and now Wael. Lets be honest the Club has struggled to compete financially as a professional club since 1897. I remember my great granddad saying that fans used to barrack Chairman George Humphreys in the 1920 saying he just wanted the Eastville site for new housing.Being optimistic is a trait we all have to aspire to ...the Twerton Park days and the Frys Training ground days taught us Ragbag Rovers that surviving is an achievement to which we should be grateful for. Getting crowds of 9,000 at the Mem is a major plus as are the improved pasties ...embrace it you know it makes sense I wish he had sold part of the land at Eastville in those days. Perhaps it would have prevented the sale to the Greyhound company during the war and, well, who knows where we'd be now.

I think Wael did fine in that interview. He has a group of stadium builders on our side, they have already built a dozen stadiums.Wael knows full well we need a big capacity to play in the top division,so I assume this will be taken into account by the New Mem planners. Training ground is still awaiting PP.Once it arrives, the building at The Coloney begins. UTG!

It's a better interview than the other fella last week.
I think it's only fair to question what's going on and future plans of the club we support and contribute our money towards.
Maybe we don't have the legal right to expect answers, but we certainly do from a moral standpoint.
No one should be afraid to question the legitimacy of some of senior decision-makers in our club.
It's a test for all of us. I just hope the it's not the start of the Waels coming off..

I may be missing it but as far as I can tell the last application was decided with conditions in December and there is no appeal lodged. The status of the training ground is really unclear. Anyone got a link for outstanding planning applications?

I think we're in safe hands and if the new Mem can be a say 23,000 plus capacity, then great.

As Harold said in 1957 (MacMillan) not Jarman to my grandfather "Let us be frank about it: most of our people have never had it so good".
League One Football, a 11,500 capacity football stadium, average attendances of 9,500, 4,500 season ticket holders, a young talented manager on a five year contract, a second round entry into the League Cup, an award winning match day programme plus real cornish pasties.
What's not to like !

For those who are not aware, the EWE is a charity and is run by committees. Speaking to someone who has had commercial dealings with the EWE, he said they were a nightmare of indescion to deal with. Interesting. Anyone else know anything more about UWE?

+ How will it be financed? + What features are going to be included to maximise the off-pitch earning potential for the club? + It would seem silly for a club of our size not to explore rail seating (aka Safe Standing) + We need to think long and creatively about car parking and accessiblity + Keep the gates + Provide quality facilities and vantage points for disabled supporters + While we commence the exploration of re-developing the Mem, we should get the local business and homeowners involved from the start. From the very beginning, we need them to re-iterate their concerns, to allow us the largest amount of time and creative scope to answer them comprehensively. ...some thoughts I have, FWIW. I'm sure someone could save everyone a lot of time by posting a few Mem Redevelopment threads from ~10 years ago. That would bring everyone on the forum and on the board right back up to speed, very quickly I want as big a capacity as possible, but I don't want seats crammed in to try and maximise numbers - you need good sightlines. The West Stand seats are too small, with little leg room. The East Stand seats you can't see the near touchline (even after the pitch had to be moved back), and can't see much down the near-side corners. Safe standing behind the goals, with seating above, would be good. A new East Stand could be built in the current car-park while we still play at the Mem, and the ends started on, then move the pitch across, and finally complete the ends and build a West Stand. We could do with owning more than the 3 houses we do on Filton Avenue!

I have just listened to the interview in full again. Thought the 'dig' at the stadium building experts was interesting. Saying not building UWE is the death of the club. Makes me wonder if that was aimed at particular individuals (who may or may not be getting any money any time soon) or just a general comment in response to some of the reaction to the deal being off. Whilst some of it may seem contradictory (and maybe it is) regarding UWE, I think it is more complex and goes back to question raised at the very original start of the deal, what may or may not have happened after Sainsbury's fell through and what the Al-Qadi's were after. How much did the original deal change that in theory would have benefitted all Rovers and the old board, to chasing the stadium and possibly giving up more, to the Al-Qadi's wanting to swing it back our way. Perhaps 'we' would have been better not wasting 18 months on it, but it would have been remiss of Dwane Sports to have binned it without investigating further because of what could have been built Come on, the whole interview was complete nonsense. I think you are giving DS far too much credit, not that that is a popular opinion amongst the happy clappers.

Not sure i have ever been called a happy clapper before There are questions for DS, but I am amazed how quickly people ha e rounded against them and ignored UWE in all this. The complete opposite of when we were all being told 'Sainsburys were the enemy' and you couldnt say a bad word against Nick Higgs I think that UWE are getting away scot free here. After all it takes two to tango but many appear to beleive and repeat rumour with no facts been given whatso ever. Where has this all come from, and who has what to gain from it?
