After the success of safe standing on the continent and north of the boarder at Celtic, Shrewsbury have applied to have a safe standing section at the New Meadow. Hopefully a precedent will be in place for us to have a standing section at a new ground if we ever do get one.

We should definitely lobby for this.

At the time of Higgs there was more than the usual smoke and mirrors, but one story about the new stadium was about potential grants being given to the club to help build it, but not with 'safe standing'.

Good debate on Radio 5 to-day re Shrewsbury's application.Spent most of the games at the Ricoh, getting up and down letting people in and out who seemed to have little or no interest in the game.

As I have said many times I want to see safe standing to stop idiots standing in front of me when I'm sat down to watch a game of football.

I'd like to see ordinary standing to prevent idiots sitting down behind me, but I'd accept safe standing as a compromise.

We've been 'lucky' to be far enough down the football pyramid to allow us to retain terracing and hence the atmosphere that this brings. If the UWE stadium does go ahead, the thought of all-seater is a bit of a downer IMO, but hopefully we can conclude a deal with the University and apply for standing areas behind at least one of the goals before the ground is built.
