Must have been told new ground is coming I reckon I guess there is a bit of everything.
If he were sacked (hopefully not) then I guess we only pay x of the contract, hopefully would secure decent compo should someone want DC and hopefully it is to be followed by more positive news

The sort of hastily-and-easily-arranged "good news" story released to mask the fact that there's nothing else to say, in my opinion.
Didn't he sign a big contract last year?

You might be right but I am not sure there is any evidence to suggest this is how the current board of directors operate. It has been a pretty good couple of years. I reckon this is more good news.

The sort of hastily-and-easily-arranged "good news" story released to mask the fact that there's nothing else to say, in my opinion. Didn't he sign a big contract last year? He signed for 3 years last Summer, so had 2 years left. Hence a 3 year extension. That's quite a commitment by the club just to release a 'hasty' and 'easily-arranged' presser! To me this means any other club wanting to recruit DC would need to pay a big wedge to poach him! Conversely if we want to sack him it's also going to cost a lot!!

I think the norm is that they sign in that if you are sacked it's a years wages nowadays

Come on! 99.9999999% of us are pleased with this news. I look at the fact an ambitious excellent young manager wants to continue taking us on a journey. I was always against long term deals, but in exceptional circumstances we should, we have and all round made my day. He wouldn't sign for 5 years without some further good news on the horizon.
Doesn't stop the 'big boys' but they have to compensate substantially, but I am a very happy gashead.

Quite bizarre how anyone could interpret this as "nothing to say". I might expect it from kaisersh*t - but not from a Gashead. Fantastic news for stability, the long term future and the evolution of our Club. Great times to be a Gashead. Some people will just have a whine at anything.

I agree with Teign..
Let's just see.. Can't sign a keeper TICK, Can't sign a winger TICK, Can't keep an unchanged team TICK, Can't keep still on bench when Browner uses his right foot TICK, Can't help but love the bloke whom seems to suit us as much as we suit him ! DOUBLE TICK!
5 more years of PROSPERITY with strong and stable leadership.....! I'm thinking dc will last longer in his job than Theresa and likkle Lee(?)

Cue people saying this is all about compensation when he goes, so expect him to be gone within a fortnight - FACT!
On a general note, it's always stuck me as nuts that clubs sack managers during a sticky spell. If he was good enough to 'have it' before, he still is (and so many of them are all talk and blagging it). DC clearly has it, so it's good that they recognise that and want him for the foreseeable.

I see on the BBC text he has signed for League One side Bristol CITY!!!! I noticed that. First I knew of it in fact. As I reached to post on it,it was corrected before my eyes. Regrettably shows where Bristol stands football-wise.

great news and I also feel it sends out a massive message that we are building for the future and will do all we can to keep our stars. maybe getting caught out by the snake has shook thongs up.
