Surely with a bit of thought the draw could have been made so that every tie was between clubs a maximum of 50 miles apart, this would have created a bit of 'local' interest and might have made the crowds bigger. I wonder what odds I could get at the bookies for Plymouth vs Exeter in the first round every year? Plymouth are away to Bristol City. Glamour tie home to Cambridge for us.

There is a north-south split of groups in this cup, but, yep, a trip from Cambridge to Bristol on a midweek is not fun. But splitting N, S, E and W means smaller groups and you would end up playing the same sides. It's tricky, our draw is not quite the worst, Cambridge could have got Cardiff. Still there will be more interest in the Cambridge game than an academy side.Think this is getting the EFL Cup and Trophy mixed up.

"Not at all, well aware of each format - just making a comparison" Are you also comparing the Caraboa Cup with the Carabao Cup, Igitur?

I still think that Newport,Cardiff, city,Cheltenham,Swindon,Yeovil,FGR would bring in a fair crowd, better than Cambridge anyway, although Cambridge away on a Tuesday night would be worse.

It doesn't appeal to me. We had Norwich away on a Tuesday night a few years back, I quite enjoyed the trip.

It's a great draw for us to be fair. Home game against a team the league below (who aren't a complete unknown quantity unless they've had a big clear out). Hopefully we can include one or two newer faces in the starting XI, with another one or two on the bench should we actually manage what we should do at home vs lower team teams (and never seem to!) One game separating us from another potential Premier League draw (although Chelsea was a bit of a fluke in the 2nd round with them having such a poor 2015/16 and not qualifying for Europe.)

Great draw. We have a decent chance of winning with the potential of an interesting draw in the next round, but if we do lose , I couldn't give a monkeys and will have got over any disappointment by the time I have got back to the bar. The only improvement on the draw would have been if it was away, thereby saving me the should I go or not dilemma.

"Not at all, well aware of each format - just making a comparison" Are you also comparing the Caraboa Cup with the Carabao Cup, Igitur? Oh for goodness sake, I'll bite and I'll explain it again. What I was trying to say, in a quite reasonable way, was a midweek fixture in the Carabao against Cambridge would attract more interest and/or people than a midweek fixture in the Checkatrade against some academy side - part of my ongoing hatred of the new Checkatrade format. Quoting the great Stone Cold Steve Austin, as I have done before, "That's all I've got to say about that." :-)
