Hi all, I see Alefe Santos has been released by Derby. Article Santos departs DerbyAnyone know how he has progressed since leaving us? Worth a punt? Cheers, Antony

Well he couldn't get a single cross in, on his last showing for us and appears to not have played since. So I think I'll pass.

He wasn't worth a punt before he went to Derby, I wouldn't have thought he is now.

The most un DC player (lightweight and ineffective) that I have ever known. He wouldn't even make the scouting database, instead reserved for the floppy disk entitled Rag-arse Rovers.

I thought he had potential and certainly had ability.....I agreed with Derby, but he clearly hasn't progressed enough for Championship football. Id have him back.

Eh... maybe if we don't get a winger by deadline day, otherwise no.
I never thought he was horrible but judging by his record on loan at Newport and Eastleigh (I think), he's no better than say Balanta or Bell-Baggie

That's very, very cruel...funny though! My view in 2014 was that he seemed nowhere near ready - mentally / emotionally - for regular first-team League Two football. Meanwhile, he's played once for Derby in the League Cup, 3 times for Notts Co and 5 times for Eastleigh. If Derby were happy with his development to Championship level, they probably wouldn't be letting him go.

I think that even on Lee Johnson's "emotional intelligence" scale, he ranks no higher than a 2.
The name is fantastic. See it on the team-sheet and you think that Alefe Santos sounds like a star, but then an under-nourished ball-boy appeared on the wing.

Seemed like a fairly strange signing for Derby at the time - even weirder now. Sounds like we've done very well out of this all things considered.

I thought he was stuck into a very poor team and was way too young and had a hard time of it but he did occasionally show some decent ball skills. Worth a trial I think. Southmead boy. Would be good if he were able to make the grade and have another Bristolian in the squad playec a good part in our under 18's double winning team the year he left

I saw his debut at Port Vale when we lost 4-0 in McGhoo years.
He looked half decent. Tricky. Confident. A bit mature beyond his years at the time.
I know he had his routes here in Bristol back then, maybe he can be like Linesy where a return may reboot his career. We would certainly be in the market for a player like him anyway, so if dc thinks he's up to standard, why not?

The obsession of ex players lives on amongst Gasheads. It'll forever have me banging my head against a wall.
Are other clubs supporters like this? Really baffling stuff.

I'm going to guess he wouldn't improve our team. However, it must have been a shocking environment for a young lad to play in (our shambles of a team back then). No harm in him training with us considering he is based here (I presume still?). If DC sees something worth pursuing then great. If not, we are doing the kid a favour while he finds a club. Forest Green may have a look? Could be good for him to get some 1st team games under his belt.

Not like there's thousands of other players out there to have a look at.
Though I did hear Lewis Hogg departed mangos recently, worth a punt?

I guess I'd take Alefe on trial, see if he can impress in a couple of friendlies. he's got flair and pace, which we lack, but it's useless if he can't do anything with the ball afterwards
